The Expanse has been saved! Amazon has closed a deal to pick up the sci-fi drama series, which is in its third and final season on Syfy. The announcement was made tonight by Amazon’s boss himself, Jeff Bezos, at National Space Society’s International Space Development Conference in Los Angeles where he was an honoree. It happened an hour or so after a The Expanse panel at the same event that featured exec producer and showrunner Naren Shankar and cast members Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham and Steven Strait.

Of course, and it's probably the true reason Amazon has raised the cost of its prime membership.

yes we will need to have Amazon, but other scifi/fantasy shows they have coming soon include Snow Crash, Ringworld, Lazarus, Darkover, Galaxy Quest and Lord Of The Rings

When Peter Jackson first started planning The Lord Of The Rings films back in 1995, he couldn’t have imagined how it would dominate his life. And now, six movies, 21 Oscars and 23 years later, we’re heading back to Middle Earth for a brand new Lord of the Rings TV series.
Amazon Studios are the lucky lot who’ve been tasked with recreating J.R.R. Tolkien’s literary magic for the small screen, with the company signing a reported $250m rights contract in November 2017 with the author’s estate, publisher HarperCollins and New Line Cinema to produce a multi-season show for television.
Here’s everything we know so far about the forthcoming Lord of the Rings TV series.

Such much passionate
and
rhetoric from the "natives" (and non-natives) at the idea of it being made--can only imagine what kind of
it will spark when it actually hits the small screen.

So, Syfy's modus operandi of three-seasons-and-out happened again? I think the Expanse will be the last thing I ever watch on that network as they have a knack for cancelling everything after the third season. And cable networks have the audacity to attack people for pitching their shows to the likes of Netflix and Amazon first?

This, along with The Grand Tour (not really sci-fi but perhaps a wee bit fantasy) are reasons enough to cancel Netflix and switch to Amazon.
