It seemed the entire episode was broken up into 3-minute segments--each followed by a 5-minute commercial break. It was so fragmented that between the numerous commercial breaks, and so many scenes zipping by so quickly, I found it hard to get into the episode.
Wouldn’t the episode have been better served by “grouping” the commercials (say, beginning/middle/toward the end). I'm not saying do this for all episodes; but for special occasion-episodes (premiere/finale) maybe it’s not a bad idea—other shows have done it.
It’s a great series; one of my favorite; too bad such a highly anticipated season premiere was derailed by shoddy assembly—too much into too little time with too many quick-cuts and too many commercials.

I agree not the best premiere, but I know what should be coming this season so that will be awesome

Yeah - I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the season.
As for the premiere, it wasn't the content of the episode, but how it was "packaged" that got the
. Even in the short snippets they gave us it was pretty obvious that there are some exciting times ahead.

yes given the plot future- I am looking forward , with 'unease' at what comes next.
Can any one who has read the books -comment on how much the TV series is faithful to these books?

I have read the books and so far its pretty close, given some rewriting for the format and a lot of compression of time and distance (in the books it took weeks and months to travel anywhere)

i prefer SYFI that respects the enormity of space, even within the solar system.

I agree, I liked the hard scifi aspects of the books, but understand they had to change that for brevity in story lines
also the principle characters age a great deal, I am waiting on the next book to be published and already the crew are gray haired lol

It can be strange seeing actors of different ages than the books, I read the Bourne Trilogy way before they where filmed and was shocked at seeing Matt Damon play the role I thought would go it someone much older (Damon was still great in the role though)
