The one where the man hides in the vault on his work breaks so he can read. The world is destroyed in war and when he emerges, to no one alive, finds a library and is so happy. Then comes the tragedy, which you know if you've seen it.
Not sure if that was for me or if that's your choice for depressing, but I found the name of the episode I find most depressing and it's called Elegy. It's about the three astronauts that land on an asteroid and are essentially embalmed alive by the caretaker.
ring-a-ding girl. that's interesting, i never viewed "a stop at willoughby" as a sad episode at all, he met the kind woman on the train, and i just figured by the end, spoiler, that he had gone on to live in willoughby, since no one else had heard of willoughby or seen the woman, he had left to that reality. i thought strntz meant "i shot an arrow into the air" too, or as someone on imdb worded it "i shat an arrow into the air", but "elegy", right, i didn't get why that had such a complete downer ending, i'm actually more used to listning to all these episodes as radio dramas recorded in the 21st century and those are what i refer to, you should check them out, with a full cast and sound effects, more like watching a movie than listning to a guy reading, and you don't need to watch the screen so you can listen to it as you go to sleep or in a car or something.
long for a bit more time,
wish you were here clock round,
in your company always near,
you hardly come along,
and no adventures as before,
around the glad green earth as days of old,
in my dreams you arrive,
a little more time.

Since I've reached that age, "The Trade-Ins" is both a downer and a tale of Love.
