When you look at all the similar modern shows, such as Black Mirror, it seems to me, that they have all borrowed much of their content from TWZ. OK, so some of it seems a bit cheesy today, but for sheer imagination and innovation, it is unparalleled. I Rod Serling was The Man !
Probably. Serial dramas, tasked with having to keep stories going for sometimes years, have to resort to fattening up even their most evergreen episodes ("The Sopranos"'s memorable "Pine Barrens" still has that excruciating Meadow/ Jackie Aprile Junior romantic subplot to stomach). The best installments of "The Twilight Zone," on the other hand, are tight mini-movies rich in themes and short on soapy filler.
