So now we know the suited figures are in fact machines. I wonder if that's what the raps are, or does Host Unit signify that it's a surrogate body? Perhaps containing the consciousness of one of the aliens.

It's always possible that if they have factions with slightly different agendas, their human contacts on the ground could be drawn into the game too. Sure. If the one Snyder met with before the invasion was part of their moderate faction he may be helping them out. Or he could be a rebel, in which case Snyder has been working against the occupation from day one.

They really need to start answering at least a few of these questions quickly when the show returns.

I read they were thinking about six seasons. It may take a while. Snyder will still be fun to watch though.

Yeah, it's always good when the show's creators know all the big reveals and have an ending in mind right from the beginning. It eliminates that sense of the writers having pulled new details out of their asses. Which on a lot of shows is exactly how it works. It also prevents what's known for some reason as "jumping the shark", where plots get more and more bizarre and outrageous as the writers try to keep topping themselves to keep a show fresh and exciting (and end up having the opposite effect).
We the viewers aren't aware of them, but all along there are boundaries in place keeping the story from going off the rails. And it's always neat to go back, watch episodes from earlier seasons, and pick up little references you didn't notice the first time through - because the larger truths viewers didn't learn for several more seasons were always there. I like that a lot personally. It's one of the traits that distinguishes a well thought out production from one that's just slapped together.
