Discuss Marvel's Iron Fist

I've been hearing a lot of positive and negative reviews on what we know so far about the show. Arrow comparisons, critiquing Danny's physique and hair, the action... I personally can't wait to watch this, I'll definitely be binge watching this at Midnight when it's released. I'm excited to see Colleen and crossing my fingers we get a more peppy, funny Danny like in many of the comics. Not sure if we will by the look of the trailers. I'm not judging Danny's appearance yet, in Defenders or IR season 2 he may be clean shaven and in a green jumpsuit. I was hoping we would get some Misty Knight crossover like Luke did in Jessica Jones. But very doubtful that will happen. Even if IMDb is reporting she's in the first episode. Marvel already said she wasn't. So I take most info with a grain of salt and rely on the trailers.

Curious to know everyone's thoughts.

I was a little worried based on what I saw in the first trailer. The featurette, released yesterday, has put those fears to rest. I'm much more confident that Iron Fist will be a worthy addition to the incredible collection of Marvel/Netflix TV shows.

As for comparisons to Arrow - people don't seem to know or care that Arrow the TV show is a far cry from the Green Arrow of the comics. Much of what makes Arrow (the TV show) work was borrowed from Batman Begins - so - there's that.

The most irksome complaints, for me, come from those who say, "I've seen this before." The constant need to be ever, over stimulated by the new and novel is tiresome. The repetition of the same, tired complaint is more tedious than Marvel recycling its motifs to create callbacks and unified themes. I guess casual viewers are entitled to complain. As a avid reader of the (award-winning) Immortal Iron Fist comic book series, I can't wait to be steeped into that world again like a tea bag in boiling water.

When Danny says, "I have a vision of total victory and nothing else" - right there - you know he's not like any other Defender that came before him.

Based on Marvel and Netflix's track record, I have no choice but to give this show my full attention.

Yup. That's exactly how I feel. Netflix has done Marvel justice all the so far. I'm not getting off the train now!

I personally can't wait for this. I love how Danny Rand is portrayed by Finn Jones, hair and beard aside, he's like the comic character come to life.

So far from what I've seen it looks like Marvel/Netflix saved the best for last March 17 cant come fast enough.

Early reviews are in for Iron Fist and they're not good. Damn.

It's being torn to shreds. I'm still going to watch it. Hopefully this is just a stumble for the Marvel/Netflix juggernaut and not a complete downward slide.

Fuck!

Yeah I don't trust critics, they probably panned it because it's not PC enough.

Genuine critical voices that are free from bias and other entanglements do matter. I won't let them sway my ultimate opinion of the series but, to say they're completely irrelevant isn't fair to the ones who do their job in an honest and forthright way. Some critics will latch on to the series issues with "cultural appropriation" but, more are citing issues with basic screen writing, uninspired fight sequences and a hopelessly miscast lead. worried

Someone was bound to make a bad Netflix/Marvel show. It was inevitable. I was just hoping against hope that it would not be Iron Fist.

I guess we'll see for ourselves in less than a week.

You can still make mine Marvel.

It won't be, trailers look really good so far.

Let's hope so, my heart is ready for Iron Fist.

IF has an astounding 0% on RT.

This is going to test Marvel fans (including myself) who are spoiled rotten on the milk of success. In a way, it's kind of neat that Marvel is an everything or nothing shop.

Soon it will be time to start pointing fingers. Scott Buck, I'm looking at you.

As sympathetic to the cause of diversity as I am, I am also glad that Danny wasn't race swapped. I'm barely listening to any criticism of the show that revolves around a political or social agenda. I respect their views but, I don't think a supernaturally-themed TV show based on a comic book is the best platform to help further their agenda.

Power Man and Iron Fist both individually come from exploitative backgrounds. It's a tragic part of the characters' DNA that can't and shouldn't be politically corrected or sanitized. All you can do is put it in a modern context and hope for the best.

Shit, 11/11 rotten. Isn't the same guy doing the Inhumans??

I for one could care less what the critics have to say never have. I knew from the second Marvel did not back down and cast a white man to play a white character it would get this hate the SJW even scared Finn Jones off Twitter for a short time he's back now though. I cant wait to enjoy this show with other real Marvel fans who want to see their favorite characters in live action.

He is. He's notorious for having botched the last few seasons of Dexter as well. They were over-the-top horrible. I'm calling it now - The Inhumans is going to suck worse than AoS. Prepare yourself.

If this were IMDB, we'd be in a tornado of DCEU-fanatic revenge hate. Thank heavens Marvel waited to fuck up until after those boards shut down. I can only imagine what Andre's videos must look like now.
