(Update: I now realize the car guy isn't the Mahoney son. I guess he's a paid henchman?)

That's not unusual. There was something along those lines of a difference between Jimmy Walker and John Amos on Good Times back in the 70s.

In this particular situation it does seem really odd though, as the Mahoney son looks much too young to have been Wes' father. That said, maybe there's also an older Mahoney son who we've never yet seen, who's a different person than the one who was in the finale, etc.

Except that not everyone looks their age. Some look older, some look younger. For years people have thought I look like I'm in my 20s. One person thought I was 16. I'm definitely not either age. Haven't been for a long time. Then there's people like Cathy Moriarty who at age 30 looked ten years older. I had to look her up on IMDB to confirm her age after watching Soapdish because she had an outburst in that film where she stated she'd just turned thirty, and I thought, "Uh... no way. She's GOT to be at LEAST 40!" But nope, she indeed had been thirty at the time that film was made.
