Did anyone else notice the similarities between Thaddeus Mobley's lonely android (shown in the cartoon-sequences) and Marvin the Paranoid Android from Douglas Adams' "The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy"-novels? They were too numerous to be coincidences... Marvin also gets abandoned on a deserted planet for millions of years, seeing civilizations form, and even gets kidnapped by invading killer robots -- his leg is stolen (in Fargo it was the arm), and eventually he's by far the oldest being there is ("thirty-seven times older than the Universe itself", due to a time-travel accident).
I'm sure most people thought of the Pixar movie "WALL-E", but the similarities are way fewer. Besides, I bet Noah Hawley is familiar with the "Hithchikers Guide"; in some ways he writes a bit like Adams, with all the absurd "coincidences" and intricate plotlines.

Well clearly; if the one in Fargo was manically depressed as well, they'd be served already.
