I have to say that I no longer like Chuck. If Chuck hadn't been such a greedy asshole by trying to take Mesa Verde from Kim, then this thing with Jimmy would never have happened. I think what Chuck is doing to Jimmy is just a vendetta that started when their mother died.
Right before their mother was dying, she asked for Jimmy instead of Chuck. Obviously their mom was delirious. I don't think she was conscious of what she was doing. Obviously she didn't see Chuck sitting there at all. That doesn't mean their mom loved Jimmy more. It doesn't MEAN anything. So I think that this rivalry Chuck has for Jimmy is completely rooted in Chuck being self consciousness and insecure. Either way Chuck trying to have Jimmy disbarred is a complete dick move. How could he do that to someone who's taken care of him? But I suppose that Chuck considered Jimmy taking care of him as an act of superiority over his brother.

It took you that long? Chuck only cares about himself, and that has been pretty apparent for a while. I loved what Jimmy said to him before the cops picked him up..you're going to die alone. You could tell that hurt.

Hurrah finally.
I did wonder how some could be on Chuck's side. As I mentioned in another post, I know Jimmy is not a saint but Chuck is blatantly evil and vindictive whereas Jimmy has a good heart and means well. When Chuck didn't tell Jimmy his mum asked for him on her dying bed, that was really sad and heartless. I really hate jealousy within families. It's an ugly trait that clouds the mind and that is why I dislike Chuck. When it's too late he will regret his actions. You saw Chuck's face change when Jimmy told him, "you will die alone". :-(

I could tell that hurt Chuck too. For the longest time I thought yhat Chuck was only trying to set a good example for Jimmy and only wanted the best for Jimmy even though Jimmy has more charisma with the ladies than Chuck does.
Sometimes it's best to handle family disputes without involving law enforcement. What changed my mind was Chuck having Jimmy arrested and setting up that plea bargin that in either case Jimmy will be disbarred. That was a low blow. I don't think Jimmy deserves that for what he did. Chuck is in the wrong too. Chuck is the one who caused that entire situation with Jimmy by stealing the Mesa Verde case away from Kim.

You must be a complete nutcase to say Chuck wanting Jimmy to get disbarred is bad and that Jimmy doesn't deserve it after what he did to Chuck last season with the documents. Considering what Jimmy does in Breaking Bad, that is way too little for what Jimmy really deserves.

You must be the type of person that would sue a family member or have them arrested instead of working it out within the family.

Chuck is the absolute worst. Bitterness beyond belief. Great performance by Michael McKean.

Hard to believe that he used to be on that show Laverne and Shirley.

He's great in Christopher Guest's films, especially SPINAL TAP. It's an inspired piece of casting by Vince Gilligan for BCS. I'd say he loves those Guest movies.

I never liked Chuck from the start but that probably stems from my impatience with retards who have these psychosomatic "conditions".
If nothing else, my hatred for the character only grew stronger once I realised that Chuck resented Jimmy for being the golden child, no matter how much Jimmy messed up with his own parents.
@MrRadical Suppose you didn't know about Jimmy in Breaking Bad, what would your perspective be of him in Better Call Saul? Would you still feel like he deserves the whole gamut of punishments awaiting him at the hands of Chuck?
Better yet, would you entertain the possibility that Jimmy's alter ego does what he does in Breaking Bad because his brother painted him into a professional corner that he could not get out of?

I don't think the Chuck character was ever designed to be likable. McKean is doing a great job with the role.

Especially how he cross examined Chcuk in court. That was a low blow and didn't help Jimmy's case at all.

I defend almost everything Jimmy has done- including the BB stuff. It was all either justified or necessary to keep him alive. The real idiot was Jesse, who constantly put everyone's life in jeopardy.

At least you're not afraid to confirm you have a really twisted mind, I guess.

More to the point, many of the characters had serious moral issues, whether it was Jesse being easily misled and falling into a life of heroin addiction or Walt getting greedy and wanting world domination.
However, in BCS, I'm all for Jimmy. The problem with your logic is that you're considering what Jimmy has become in BB without taking into consideration the possibility that he may not have gone that way if his brother Chuck was actually encouraging rather than resentful of Jimmy's aspirations as a lawyer. Chuck always despised Jimmy for being the favourite, even at their mother's deathbed, she asked for Jimmy in her delirium instead of acknowledging Chuck's presence by her bedside.
I put it all on Chuck. Yes, Jimmy was a devil child and didn't really pull his socks up until much later in the piece. But that doesn't give Chuck the right to smash Jimmy down when he finally made the effort of putting himself through law school to better himself. What did you want him to do? Smile and aspire to be the Cinnebon employee he eventually became instead?

That would've held water, if only Jimmy didn't get that senior partner position at Davis & Main and guess whar? Chuck was right 100% and Jimmy screwed up everything again while embarassing both himself and Clifford Main who as we've seen is a good man who didn't deserve that one bit. Seriously man, the mental gymnastics you and others are pulling in order to defend Slippin' Jimmy are downright eyerolling-worthy.
