I also wrote this in the PD section.
I cant imagine what it would be like to have a child caught in a burning building, but I think it was really selfish of him to beg the firefighters to go back in. Boden said the building could collapse any minute. What if she wasn't in there?
This was a very sad episode. I cant believe they went that route with Olinsky. Didn't Voight go through the same thing?

It pretty much seems as though no one can have a family on PD. Voight's son was murdered, Olinsky's daughter was murdered. Olinsky's other daughter (Michelle) is never mentioned. Antonio's wife ran off with his kids and he barely got to see them. I don't know what Dick Wolf has against them and family.
I did think it was messed up what Voight did (not letting Olinsky have a crack at the guy). But I did understand his reasoning behind it. Al wasn't the only person hurt by the burning building. More than one family needed justice.

I think it attempts to be realistic with police officers in showing that they have lives too and that their job can impact their families, many times in tragic ways. However, I think that, like pretty much all TV shows, they take it too far / exaggerate the frequency of these things with a small group of stars-of-the-show.

I couldn't have said it better. The fact that the group is so small, it makes it seem as ift every single person in their district has a broken family.

It was a sweet moment when Ruzek gave Olinsky a hug.
