It ends - essentially starting the show - as the safety of the rifle flicks off. Slick.

I'll have to disagree with you but at least it is better than the show itself! I still can't believe it actually had 5 seasons!

LOL!

I wanted to like it more but, through the episodes I did watch, there just didn't seem to be "enough Toronto" - sounds weird, I know. But, if you compare it with a movie like, say, The Tourist, wherein there's a lot of Paris and other locales in Europe that you could place yourself in, and that doesn't happen enough, for me, in this show, to feel that insider feel that other citizens get to feel when their city is on display in a show/movie.

Toronto is a strange city. It's the biggest city in Canada, arguably the only real "global city" in the entire country, and it is mostly used for being "dressed up to look like" every other city in the world, but rarely gets to be the actual setting for a story, and I can't understand why. You're far more likely to see Montreal or Vancouver play itself in a production, while big movies are shot in Toronto...just not set in Toronto.

And, it's not like other parts of the world have never heard of Toronto. From all eyes on the Blue Jays during back to back World Series wins in the 90s, to the Raptors capturing a global audience in its unlikely, riveting NBA championship run, to the Maple Leafs being the team everyone loves to hate...to all the immigration (it's a top destination from around the world, so people know enough about it to emigrate to it).

At any rate, this show came about as close to putting Toronto front and centre as I've seen, and yet, it still came up short.

Well, I'm not a Canadian so can't speak to how much it showed off Toronto but I didn't like it because the acting was abysmal, especially Dillon! The others weren't much better. Although it did surprise me how awful Colantoni was. Maybe it was the 'atmosphere'?

I thought you might like this story?

Maybe!

Because of the currency exchange rate, it's often cheaper to shoot/produce in Canada than in the USA, so, expending production capacity does make sense...but it does not necessarily ensure that stories are being produced that are set in Toronto; could be more movies like Red (there's a great scene in/out front of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, on Front Street, but it's not "Toronto" within the story of the film; or Resident Evil, taking place in the fictitious "Raccoon City", even as several landmark buildings are featured, like City Hall).

At any rate, thanks for this link - let's see if it materializes as you're suggesting it might!
