Debate The Ark

Seriously? "Radiation scrubbers?" Who the hell comes up with this garbage?

Oh, and I figure that the "Founder" guy being hidden on the ship means that things for Earth were much more critical than others were told, there were likely no other Ark ships sent out, and Earth may be a ruin by the time they woke up on the Ark.

How were they using the 'radiation scrubbers'?

Although much of the ship, at least "aft" parts closer to the "leaking" engines, had been made deadly-radioactive, right near the end Garnet says or is told that (more or less) "the radiation scrubbers have cleaned up the ship." And everything went back to normal.

I assume that meant some kind of automated system, especially since they also lost more crew members in this episode. But even if that meant a crew team, you can't just "scrub" radiation like that.

Just google radiation scrubbers. They do exist, but I haven't seen the episode so I do not know how serious or what kind of radiation it was.

I don't think that's the same thing. "Radiation scrubbing" from air, for example, is basically filtration to remove the radioactive particles. Air itself cannot become radioactive, but metal and other materials such as those the ship are made from, can. And that kind of radioactivity cannot be "scrubbed."
