I just don't get Jim...REALLY!

I really dont get this douche bag at all! He is probably the most emotionally confused and confusing character on this show. Outside of chasing tail you really have no idea what he is going to say or do next. So Katheryn cleans their house out and walks out on him demanding a divorce and he seems shocked and sad for a minute but immediately gets on the phone with his bff punk boy David and wants to celebrate his impending divorce?!?!?! Which is it Jim? Do you want to stay married or get divorced?!?!? Do you care for your wife or not?!?! One minite he's protecting Katheryn, holding her in the study (season 2), calling her honey and baby throughout the series among other confusing things and then the next minute, hes running off her masseuse boy and calling her a whore in the kitchen and cheating on her left and right. i just dont get it. And lets not forget about him asking her to retire and go away with him after Amanda died... Maybe it all goes back to the screwed up TP wrote their marriage. I personally think he screwed up the way he wrote Jim's character and how he virtually has no feelings at all unless it involves Amanda. Amanda being his and Katheryn's child (a women he may or may not hate?)Which also confuses me about the marriage again... if he only married for money how come he loves her kids with Katheryn so much? They had children together and they both love their children but hate one another?!?! There are too many gaps and loopholes that TP must not see here!!! Disappointed for sure!

I kind of saw that scene a little bit differently.
I thought Jim's remark to David was a typical guy move acting like he doesn't care his wife is divorcing him. But he really seemed to think if he called her "Kate" that would have stopped her from leaving, but she kept going.
The one that's never shown any kind of feelings is Kathryn. During all the seasons there are times Jim shows he has feelings for Kathryn, but all she does is shoot hate at him. There's never been one scene from Kathryn's angle where she showed any kind of feelings or concern for Jim. So Jim has actually shown more feelings for his spouse than Kathryn has.
Not that I blame her. She believes he married her for her money and never cared anything about her.

Which makes him even more confusing because he has had plenty of time to talk things out and try to fight harder for the marriage and actually come out with his feelings so that it could give them a chance. If we saw from the past we might see a different side, she prob used to be the one that showed the feelings but years of adultery and lies pushed her to his point of being hateful towards him. She had openly admitted that she loved him at the beginning. I think dont believe they will actually divorce.

If I recall correctly, Kathryn told Hanna she wouldn't have sex with Jim after what happened with Wyatt. That was the thing that broke the camel's back for Kathryn. That he was having sex with Celine while their son was getting molested. I think Kathryn wanted to go up to the camp, but Jim had her doing something for him and might have promised to go instead. I'm not sure, but Kathryn might not have wanted to send Wyatt to camp in the first place. And according to Kathryn she killed the priest that molested Wyatt and Jim covered it up and from then on their marriage was never the same and Kathryn insisted on living in a separate bedroom.
So the current situation with Wyatt had to have brought it back. Once again Jim is responsible for putting their son in a situation where he got raped. Kathryn has committed murder. And Jim has covered it up, but this time Kathryn isn't going to stay with him.
I hope they stay together somehow, because fighting or not fighting, they're still the most interesting couple on this show.

I think he could do The Have and Have Nots" The Early Years. He could play that in between HAHN seasons. There's plenty of material there.

Thats a great idea and have all young characters for everyone and forget the other show ILYIW! Maybe you should write TP all of your ideas!
