Actually, my reaction was a lot stronger when I watched that scene where Kat is suggesting Jim is in love with Candace or that he has deep feelings for her. I know Tyler had a bug up his butt about these two and had said in the past he thought Jim was in love with Candace, but I thought that particular nightmare had ended long ago.
Jim and Candace are played out and even at the start they just weren't that interesting together. I feel like it would be backwards development to start this crap up, again.
Candace hasn't gotten much character development. They totally threw to the side her wanting to become a lawyer. Now she's going to be back to hooking. That's negative character development.
And I feel it's a problem with a lot of the characters. Wyatt is another. And Benny was actually good in the first season now he just keeps getting worse and worse.

The past couple of seasons has been Jim/Candace free and it's been great. Why won't Tyler do a real exploration of Jim/Kathryn.
I would love it if he did a prequel showing Jim, Kat, David, V and Hanna when they were young.

Yes! We need a prequel. I'm with you though, we need an exploration of Jim and Katheryn. They have some real chemistry so why not explore it.
Sometimes Tyler's writing gets on my nerves
And I kinda hope that Candice falls for the politician and goes straight. Too many villians on this show. Let Veronica stay the villian while Candice goes straight and falls in love with the new guy amd Jim and Katheryn try to patch things up with them spending a lot of time together at home especially since Jim is retired from being a judge now.

I completely agree but it's getting harder and harder for them to do that with how much Katherine continues to despise him. If TP would get a clue how to turn all of that hating until sexual tension than we would be good but he continues to pit them against each other and not let them reach their full potential. Jim/ Candice is the last thing we need especially with the forced love scene they did where Jim kept saying no. Sometimes I think Jim is vile enough to be destined to be alone lol but than again Jim/Kathryn have great chemistry and I wish they would pursue that.
Me too. TP mentioned a possibility when they were on the after show a few years back but he still hasn't done it. TP needs to listen to the fans lol.

I think they do have some sexual tension but its not to their full potential. I think TP could spend a little extra time on Jim and Katheryn and even give Hannah a love life but hes too focused on Candice.

I think Tyler has a fixation for bad bitches. Sometimes I feel the only character he's writing for is Veronica. Maybe it all goes back to Madea. He envisoned Candace as the show's bad bitch. I don't think it was ever his plan for Veronica to emerge as the show bitch like she has. That happened organically.
In a very real way Veronica has eclipsed Candace. She's a much better bad bitch than Candace ever was. Candace is kind of a one trick pony where she always ends up trying to use sex against people, but Veronica is more versatile. She's got a vast array of weapons to use against people.
I'm not trying to put down Tika Sumpter, but Angela Robinson is a much better actress, and that may play a part of it. There isn't anything the woman won't do in that role. She's had some very cringe-worthy material and she didn't shy away from it. She attacked it with gusto. She's also had to do some embarrassing scenes like when she was facing off with the doctor about her boob leaking silicon and her denying she has fake boobs or when she had to strip down to skimpy underwear to go down on Benny whose much younger than she is.
I think my favorite Veronica memory is her all dressed down with her wig off and sitting on the curb smoking a cigarette right after she set her husband on fire. Now that is a bad bitch.
And who but Veronica could get away with saying a line like, "I didn't want to kill you. I just wanted to burn you a little. Burn your face a little or your body a little so no other woman would want you." And that way she said it was perfect.

Exactly. He's all into Candice being this bad bitch that refuses to change but avoids relationships that matter. TP's writing is the weak point of the show. If TP would learn how to develop relationships and characters this show would be at it's best. TP seems to be drawn to mediocrity.

That's part of the problem I'm having with Wyatt. Why didn't he just whack this little worm off? He has no relationships [I don't call what he's got with Jeffrey a relationship. Jeffrey is the host and Wyatt is the parasite sucking him dry.].
One of the best relationships on the show is Kathryn and Hanna and he hasn't done much with that, lately. Jim and David have a similar parasitic relationship to Jeffrey and Wyatt. I'd also add Jeffrey and Candace to the parasitic relationship group. None of these people have real friends.

Exactly. TP seems to have low standards which is why the writing is such trash at times. TP has found a few diamonds in this show like Veronica and Hannah but the writing brings these great characters down. He's big problem is that he let's his actors adlib a lot. He said that on the after show a few years ago and that';s why the scenes are so long. They have a general script but they can deviate from it a little and that seems to be the reason why the scenes are so damn long.
I completely agree Angela is far better than Tika. TP seems to have an issue writing dynamic and complex characters and seems to rely on actors a lot to build their character. If you're not that good to begin with it just won't work. Candice seems very one dimensional in all aspects. The girl doesn't have any new tricks up her sleeve, It seems to be blackmail, get caught, seek revenge repeat and it get's so stale. I think Tp's definition of Candice being complex and being a bad bitch is showing her having emotion and making schemes she always seems to get caught in. If Candice was a better con artist and walked toe and toe with Veronica and didn't just have a persona of being a bad bitch but actually was one I would have no issues but that isn't the case and Tika isn't the actress to do that. Veronica is everything and seems fearless. Veronica only seems to value her reputation. That scene gave me life. Veronica with no fake things on being as evil as ever was everything.
Tika couldn't even come close to delivering a line like that without inducing laughs. TP fails to develop his characters and doesn't know how to hide the bad actors with a good script lol. Long scenes make bad actors stand out so much lol.

Exactly. Wyatt being a parasite is the best analogy I've heard and the sad thing is that Jeffrey allows him to be by running whenever he calls. David and Jim are exactly like Wyatt and Jeffrey. They use the black men for what they need than kick them to the curb and the dumbest thing is that they continue to come back everytime. I'm not saying it's a race thing I was just making a point on their relationship. I though Jeffrey was gone for good and wouldn't just automatically run to him all of the time but I was wrong. If TP is going to get them together than do it all ready so it would make sense why Jeffrey is weak for him. Jeffrey acts like he can't live without him. It reminds me of one of those symbiotic relationships in nature where they need the other to survive but Jeffrey doesn't need Wyatt he wants him. Jeffrey can still be a friend without being so desperate but he doesn't seem to know what a healthy friendship is because he has Jim and David as an example. When Jim put the hit out on my wife I would have be done but David comes crawling back.
It really is but Hannah basically seems to write her off at times. I'm glad they still have somewhat of a friendship but they used to be do great. It's like TP is avoiding them or making it like since Hannah doesn't work for her anymore they don't want to hang out anymore and can't be friends and that's the crazy part. Jeffrey and David always go above and beyond for this people but for what? I liked Candice and Jeffrey's friendship because of how Jeffrey could read her and it seemed genuine. Candice disproved that throwing him on the bus on that phone call. Candice is something else. And that's an issue too. Practically everyone on this show is crazy and has no friends lol. It's like nobody can be happy or have friends. We have enough drama going on that at least someone other than little Q can have it together lol.

"TP fails to develop his characters "
He should have had Candace becoming a lawyer then becoming a mother to Q when she learned he was still alive, not to mention making some progress in her relationship with Hanna. But she's gotten no character development.
For me the moment Candace became a bad joke was when she needed Erica's help to beat up that wimpy social worker. Then she took that whole troop of hoods with her to threaten Landon. Neither of these characters were big and tough. Candace, if she isn't just a big mouth with nothing to back-up all these claims of being big and bad and tough, could have handled these two on her own.
Look at Veronica going into the hood and slapping Quita or scaring the crap out of Quincy with just words alone when he crawled in bed with her and threatened to rape her. I was really hoping when Veronica went to Candace's house she would have run into War. She would have eaten him for breakfast.

Exactly. Or have Candice use her scheming for good like Brandon does. At least what Brandon does is legit. The lack of character development is hurting the show. It would be so much better than watching her plays these games. It's like TP is afraid to make Candice change just like Wyatt. Wyatt should have just died off and Candice should have taken the bar by now.
My thoughts exactly. If she was such a bad bitch she wouldn't need goons to make her look scary she would embody it all by herself. Veronica does this and people fear her. Candice could have avoided a lot of things if she would get her lazy ass up and do it herself but she doesn't. The whole thing with War could have been avoided if she paid him what he wanted in the beginning, used the goons she already knew or not have him involved at all. It's surprising that she always has to ask favors and doesn't have a crew of her own.
Exactly. Veronica follows through with her threats and inspires fear. Candice could learn a thing or two from her.

Or is she was too greedy to pay War what she promised him, don't go around spending money like water. That's what Veronica was snickering about her buying all these houses without any source of income. The ironic thing is wanting to live in some exclusive white neighborhood has brought her nothing but trouble.
It seems TP only kept Wyatt around to try and working towards this noxious Wyatt/Jeffrey relationship, cause he's the only one Wyatt is associating with. And as I said before, I don't care if Wyatt is gay, he's toxic and only brings pain and misery to Jeffrey. He's just another Veronica in Jeffrey's life. Couldn't let Jeffrey have a relationship with a nice guy like Landon who treated Jeffrey decently. No, let's get Jeffrey together with the worthless parasite.
