I have just watched this and I found it quite hard to follow. A LOT of characters but none of them very memorable so when things happen you are hard put to know who they happened to. The light bulb moment - "this is all about....." left you thinking "Who?".The flashback confused me totally - it took me a while to realise what it was ! As usual in Scandramas there was completely unnecessary cruelty to a helpless animal ( yes - I know it's not real - but it upsets me just the same). I also think that the identity of the perpetrator was a cheat - but in these politically correct times you mustn't question anything. There is so long between these dramas that it is easy to forget the characters history and that impacts upon the current story. It wasn't as good as the previous series in my opinion.

I've just binged watch all 4 seasons so I can't really comment on the length of time between each one. However, I thought S4 maintained its high standard and hook.

OK the main crime itself wasn't as good as the other seasons, but the character development and progression of Saga and Henrik completely made this. The ending was perfect how it all started and ended on the Bridge. Just wish they could've squeezed in an appearance of Martin (they even teased this by having Saga visit a familiar inmate).

I do find it funny that in the main plot a woman got stoned, someone committed suicide etc. yet you get upset because there's a brief animal cruelty scene (which you even barely see)! Out of interest why did you think the reveal of the perpetrator was a cheat in these PC times?!

Thank you for responding - unfortunately I posted my comment about two and a half years ago and I have completely forgotten the episodes. I have watched hundreds of episodes of other series since - so I hope you can believe I am not dodging the question of whom the perpetrator was. I don't get upset so much by what happens to human characters because I know of course that they are actors. I guess you will say the same applies to animals - but I have seen how ruthless Scandinavians can be in real life towards animals and I hate the message it sends out.

D'oh sorry yeah should have looked at when you first posted! Understandable that if it wasn't memorable for you at the time then there's no chance a few years later. Basically it was a double act. But the storyline involving the main characters was much more interesting (Henrik finding his daughters).

Re: Scandinavians being ruthless to animals. I've never heard any western or northern European countries with such a reputation. The US and Asia surely have a far worse history. What message does it send out to show animals being murdered? It's not glorifying it, if anything it's highlighting how cruel & sadistic a killer can be by also targeting these innocent creatures. Also, as you said, they are "acting"...
