Still checking -- John Thaw's widow, Sheila Hancock, appeared in a memorable role as a mysterious clairvoyant in Season 4, Ep. 4 "Harvest".

This series is still hugely popular so after series 8 there will be a series 9, thus more than 33 episodes.
