Discuss Mission: Impossible

Pretty good episode where Casey posed as a woman who was committed so she couldn’t testify. I didn’t understand the ending though. What was the purpose of Casey coming in to court still posing as that woman pretending to act all crazy for the benefit of the court and then pulling off the mask?

The unmasking in court did seem a bit 'strange'. I can think of at least three possible explanations.

1- The producers of the show or the prosecutor wanted something spectacular, surprising, at the end, as often happens in court.

2- While the bad guys thought they still had 'Nora', there was time for the real Nora to recover from the drugs and safely be brought to court.

3- The unmasking of a fake Nora who acted insane, muddled the waters and caused confusion. Who did the doctor diagnose as being 'unstable'? Is any doctor even qualified?

So, having the real Nora sit there and calmly testify, in contrast to the actions of the previous 'Nora', would certainly convince the judge and jury that she was not crazy. There would be little doubt about the state of mind of this witness and her testimony would be more readily believed.

Ok thanks. I had not considered any of that. This is why I need to post about every episode I watch. There was a question I had about another episode but I waited too long and now I forgot what episode it was. Maybe bag woman but I’ll have to look it up

That episode creeped me out. BTW, this is Maria. I just got a new phone and had to create a new account.

Hi Maria. Welcome back. relaxed

Thanks! Have you seen any of the Star Trek Picard episodes, and what do you think of them?

It reminded me too much of other shows with a mix of spy/conspiracy/soap drama/MMA with scifi elements like androids. If Picard, Romulans and the Borg weren't in it, it could have been a story about androids - possibly under control of some one else - revolting, and the protagonist goes on a quest to find out what is going on and who is behind everything. On this thread I've put some videoclips of androids from other shows.

This may seem naive, but I thought that Data was the only android in Starfleet period. I thought that Starfleet had given up making androids after that episode with Bruce Maddox.

I really like the show. And I got a kick out of the fact that Raffi lives at Vasquez Rocks.

In the new shows anything is possible (retcon). I put a link to the thread about "What Are Little Girls Made Of?", as it reminds me a teensy bit of that episode.

It seems to be now a fact that the Federation - Daystrom Institute - has created many androids, possibly with Maddox and Jurati involvement, who have been used as workers. Others, like Dahj and Soji, don't even know that they are Synths. Romulans are also involved using Borg technology.

The plot is a bit boring for me, because many other past shows, that I've seen, use similar storylines.

I'm trying to figure out when the Romulans got a hold of the Borg cube; was it before or after their Sun went nova? I like the fact that the Romulans look the way they looked in TOS.

I have been wanting to watch that. But I don't think I have that cbs on demand thing though

I highly recommend CBS All Access. I can watch so many different classic shows (I've been binging Classic Twilight Zone and once again I can enjoy that genius that is Rod Serling.) It only cost me $9.99 per month.

I’ve just been using Netflix. I think TZ is on there. I love TZ!

Yep, Classic Twilight Zone is one of the best series ever made. They even had a fifth season episode that Robert Lansing was in!

I watched some of the New Years marathon but haven't watched the whole thing in years

I have fond memories of a New Year's Day about 10 years ago when there was a Classic Twilight Zone marathon on the SyFy channel and a Mysteries At The Museum marathon on the Travel channel. Did a lot of channel switching that day.
