Mission Impossible Fan Fiction

I'm not one for reading fan fiction about any movies or TV series (usually), but a few months ago I happened to come across one that explained the 2 burning questions most Classic Mission Impossible fans have always wanted to know: 1). Why did the IMF agents keep suddenly disappearing (and where did they go), and 2). What made Jim Phelps go insane and act the way he did in the first Mission Impossible movie?

I can't find the story I read ( it was pretty good), but if anyone on the board would like me to write a synopsis about it, please let me know.

Fun fact: Jon Voight's version of Jim Phelps was modeled on Aldrich Aames, the CIA agent who was arrested as a double agent for Russia in the late 1980's/early 1990's.
