Dyskusje Perry Mason

MeTV is started the series from episode 1 last night. The Case of the Restless Redhead. I've always heard that The Case of the Moth Eaten Mink was the first one filmed as early as 1956. Does anyone know of a list or a source that names the episodes in filming or production order? There's never been an issue with continuity, that I know of, but it would be interesting to view them in the order in which they were filmed.

I haven't watched METV in years, because the only thing I use my tv for is to watch my DVDS (I just bought Star Trek Beyond, which isn't as good as the first two Kelvin timeline movies, but Idris Elba is in it, and as usual the makeup is outstanding. I can't believe it lost the Best Makeup Oscar to Suicide Squad).

The bigger problem with shows like Perry Mason - and original Star Trek - on channels like Me TV (and also channels like TBS, TNT, etc) is how much they cut from each episode. No matter how much someone might want to see Perry Mason season 6, for example, I can't recommend Me TV as the way to do it.

I like METV mainly because that's the channel that introduced me to Twelve O'Clock High and Robert Lansing. However, the show was broadcast at 4:00 am Pacific Coast time, which was a bit of a challenge, but I managed (I also used to watch Angel at 3:00 am PST on TNT).

Now that you have the DVD set, have you ever checked to see how much Me TV was cutting?

If you really like(d) Angel, you should try that on DVD too and see how much TNT cuts. That's a much newer show, but they still cut them to run more commercials. But they might only cut 5 to 7 minutes from an episode of Angel, versus maybe 10 to 12 (or even more!) minutes for Perry Mason (or Star Trek).

I wonder whether MeTV ever airs S6 episodes.

I haven't seen anyone respond to this question yet, genplant29. Yes, MeTV airs season 6. One of my favorite episodes is TCOT Lurid Letter. SPOILER >>>

A young punk attacks Perry and Paul with a tire tool. Paul takes him out with a nifty martial arts maneuver. Looks totally real, unrehearsed, and authentic. Not choreographed. Yay, Paul! Yay, Bill Hopper, former WWII, UDT frogman, early version of a Navy SEAL.

What I'd like to know is why CBS All Access doesn't have season six. I'm very annoyed about it.

Even though you'd have to expect someone in Paul Drake's job to have that kind of skill, it's still a nice surprise when something like that happens. Especially when Paul usually seems to spend most of his time on the phone with Perry. That's mostly what I remember seeing, anyway.

There was a similar kind of thing in an episode of Quincy, where a murder suspect is pleased with himself about what he's done and maybe figures he can't be touched or something. Then suddenly top administrator Dr Asten, played by John S. Ragin, takes him down HARD. Absolutely not what you'd expect from this previously erudite-man-of-little-physicality. One of the other characters, very surprised, asks about this. Dr Asten says "I used to be an Airborne Ranger. A long time ago." I've found that Ragin spent some time in the Army, but I didn't find any details on what he learned there. I suspect he must have had some kind of special-ops training, because that scene also seemed very natural.

R.I.P. John S. Ragin, "Dr Asten."
