Sometimes it's pretty disappointing when they do something that could have been maybe fixed if they'd put a little more thought into it.
Like in this episode, The Copernicus reaches Babylon 5 after something over 100 years. At that distance, if they'd been going .1c - which seems unlikely to start with - it would have taken 100 years to get from Earth directly to Epsilon Eridani. Without any detour to another system to pick up the alien creature, and there's nothing "along the way" anyway.
If The Copernicus had diverted, there's no way it could have reached B5 in only 10 years. At .1c, that's only 1 light-year and nothing is that close to Epsilon Eridani.
And that doesn't even get to how long it would take to reach the Rim even if it could get to .1c again, and with no more food either!
