Discuti Babylon 5

The episode title is "Comes The Inquisitor." Interesting that Kosh said he had called for AN Inquisitor, not THE Inquisitor. Had they maybe taken other humans for that purpose besides Sebastian/Jack? Or maybe Kosh meant there were Inquisitors for other species as well?

But since Jack/Sebastian was taken from Earth 400 years previously, maybe that meant Sinclair/Valen told them what they had to do? What would they have needed Inquisitors from other races for? Maybe they started doing that before the time of Valen?

I read this (see link) a little while ago. I watched B5 back in the day but wasn't deeply into it like some. So is all this just back story (see link)? I don't remember any of this happening?

Mostly that stuff wasn't in the show, so it can be dismissed as unimportant/non-canon, which I tend to do especially for things that weren't developed by JMS himself and at the time of the series. I find that too much that gets cooked up after the fact - whether due to self-embellishment or political correctness or whatever, I don't know (and don't much care) - doesn't "ring true" for me. The later cooked-up story about Marcus being revived and creating a clone of Ivanova with her original memories copied in etc, I don't find persuasive either.

And the idea of Sinclair/Valen finding Catherine Sakai who wouldn't be born until 900+ years later... who came up with that, maybe even by accident? It would have been sufficient for the unfolding of history, for partly-human Valen/Sinclair to have had children with a full Minbari female. And up to now, I thought I'd read that was what happened.

But remember, Delenn said that the other First Ones, including the Vorlons, had been fighting back the Shadows for a MILLION years or more. It was just the most recent previous conflict, was 1000 years ago. After that war, thanks to Valen/Sinclair, the Vorlons could have known that they needed to have a HUMAN Inquisitor, at least for the next time. If Valen/Sinclair told them that much. But before that, were they looking for leaders from the Minbari, for example? Maybe there were some Minbari Inquisitors in the past? Or maybe if Sinclair/Valen didn't tell them who would need to be tested, they "recruited" some Inquisitors from several different races, Just In Case. Some kind of variety would seem to be required, for Kosh saying "AN Inquisitor" rather than 'THE Inquisitor," to make sense.
