Doesn't it seem like President Clark could have easily mustered the forces to take back Proxima 3 etc, even with a few of the other ships staying behind to defend? After all he sent at least 2 waves against the station itself, and would have succeeded if Delenn hadn't shown up in the nick of time.

Of course, Clark couldn't WIN, Because Plot. But it would have been nice to hear some credible reason for why he didn't also throw a couple waves at Proxima 3, for example. Or why it wouldn't have succeeded if he had. Or why it DIDN'T succeed when he DID.
