Would it be possible to change the "(1/2)" episode name into "(1-2)"? That would be helpful since you can't name files containing a "/" in windows and I like to have my collection named fully. The longer episodes are already named "(1-3)" for example so it would fit nicely. I tried doing it myself but the german episode titles are locked for me atleast. Would be appreciated!

by the way note that no overviews from fernsehserien.de are allowed to copy

I copied them from Detektiv-Conan.ch

Sorry if I did something wrong, just read the message now.

The texts are the same on fernsehserien.de , so that's difficult to decide now, because fernsehserien.de are selling licences for their texts to other sites

I'm sorry I didn't know that. but I also did not know not to use fernsehserien.de

fernsehserien.de has an impressum where you can read that they don't allow their content on other sites, they have many sites in the web and sell licences for others, but in fact nearly every content from sites in the EU have a copyright

Thanks for explaining! Anyways, could u answear my initial question if it'd be possible to change "(1/2)" to "(1-2)"?

I leave this answer to another moderator, I'm not familiar with this show

Thanks for your report! slight_smile

When I edited the show back in May, I used the slash between the numbers because the Contribution Bible says:

"Double Episodes

If two episodes originally air as one, a slash can be use to separate the two episodes titles: Title One / Title Two.

The same technique may be used for episodes which are broadcast as a single double episode on the original channel and split into two parts in foreign country."

If I interpret this correctly, our general rule means we should use "1/2" instead of "1-2". But perhaps we should think about our rule if it causes technical problems? I can't decide this alone - we have to wait for other moderators to share their opinion.

It made more sense to me to use "1-3" instead of "1/2/3".

I tried doing it myself but the german episode titles are locked for me atleast.

Yes, I locked all titles because the former data was such a mess, due to those double episodes and users adding it incorrectly for different translations/languages.

So, here is what we should do: We wait for other moderators to take a look at the technical naming problem and share their opinion, and then I can fix all titles if we decide to change our rule.

Another note about the German overviews: They are not only not allowed, as @Samara wrote to you. They are also very long, almost recaps -> we prefer shorter episode descriptions as overviews that are no recaps. If you are familiar with all German episodes, you could use the not-allowed-long-overview and rewrite + shorten them to only the facts - that would work for TMDb and wouldn't be considered to fall under copyright (done correctly). Maybe only 1 or 2 short sentences as a teaser per each episode? I would do it myself, but I don't know the episodes/show and I don't find the time to do it. worried

I totally understand that seeing as how my personal collection also had problems since the german episodes aired the last episodes in a completly wrong order but maintained the numbers. Really confusing haha I will try and give the episodes titles as good as I can. I absolutely didn't know that some sites forbid the use of their text. For now I found a site that seems to not have problems with that as far as I know but when I got more time on my hand I could do your idea and recap all the episodes. I have a couple free days in the middle of the month so then I could do it.

Also, if somebody is looking into the 1/2 problem already I wanna note that the following characters should also be avoided if possible since files can't contain them in windows: \ , / , : , * , ? , " , < , > , and | Of them I find ":" quite annoying since many movies and series use it. But it can easily be exchanged for a - in most cases luckily. It's just a bit annoying to do it all manually all the time especially with TV shows though..

Thanks for your reply I just discovered TMDB and I really love it. Seems to have all the people loving their respective shows combined smiley

I'm not sure if you've seen it, but we have something called episode groups for different orders:

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/30983-case-closed/episode_groups

I created 2 German groups called "German DVD Order (DVD)" and "German Broadcast (TV)" - perhaps that's helpful for you?!? I'm not sure if everything is correct, though. The edit of this show in May was really complicated and I'm afraid a few things are still incorrect/unfinished because I got sick during this time. I plan to finish it at some point, but I can't find the time at the moment.

German copyright law is a mess, and it looks like the European will follow soon. no_mouth About writing recaps yourself -> yes, that would be fantastic! But please don't recap -> just a short teaser about each episode. 1 to 2 sentences max, perhaps only about what the episode's case is about? As I mentioned, I have no idea about the show, so I'm not sure if it's possible? But it would be great if you could do it! grinning

I don't think TMDb will ever be able to avoid those characters, because we always want the titles to be the one's that were originally used for releases. So, this won't happen, I'm afraid. I assume (only assume!) the same answer will be regarding the slash between the episode numbers 1/2 -> that's our current rule, and we won't change it because it causes technical trouble for certain users. I'm not a tech-savvy person, so I can't say for sure -> but when you write "it can easily be exchanged", why don't you replace all / with - between the episode numbers manually? It might be a bit annoying, but it will probably do the trick?!?

That's great to read! grinning Welcome! fireworks

Only saw it after I changed my episodes. But I'm happy now as I want them as close to the original as possible anyways

It does and thats what I am doing already. But as I said I felt it could be easily avoided so that no one had to do it manually anymore. But I guess it's not a big problem. have a great day :)!

I created this account just now to report (and fix) a certain issue.

I would like to ask what data you have used for the German DVD Order. I'm currently collecting the new release from the German publisher Kaze and I found mistakes/inconsistencies with the episode count. It has largely to do with the fact that German broadcast has split certain episodes (e.g. ep 11) into 2 or more episodes. In my Plex Media Library, all episodes after Ep 11 are off and therefore wrongly matched. That is the case with both DVD and TV broadcast lists. I really want to fix the list so that there are no inconsistencies anymore and automatic matching with Plex and other services does work properly with the German DVD release.

I suggest adding the split episodes in as one episodes and using japanese ordering. either by merging the files or naming them as part1, part2 and so on..
