Well, this week, they did the sprint around the Olympic arena. One week, they had to search a newspaper for a clue. The first week they had the "find the suitcase" challenge.
They often throw in little extra tasks between the roadblocks & detours.
And the first four seasons, there was a Fast Forward on every leg.
Thanks, Asharah. I knew there were more tasks than two of them. It was at least three tasks before the pit stop and more if you were the last team. They are finally making the red bearded guy and his teammate do a speed bump, but they let them slide the other time they were last.
I guess that is correct. The roadblock or detour (I get them mixed up) that both partners have to do usually is comprised of multiple tasks. The one that only one partner does is one task.

Well, the previous time they came in last, they were treating that as a Superleg, there's no pitstop and you get immediately sent out to keep racing. So they didn't give them a speedbump. The first time they did a superleg was season 6 because they originally wanted to do a non-elimination in Hungary. At the time the penalty was having your accumulated money taken away and having to beg for money for the next leg. And begging was illegal in Budapest, so thus the superleg was invented as a non-elimination with no penalty.

That's what I thought, but I remember them having a superleg and the host would say that sometime during this race you will encounter a speed bump. I did a bit of digging and that is true.
teams who were saved from elimination during a non-elimination leg will have to perform an extra task sometime during the next leg.
The speed bump is relatively recent. Introduced a few seasons ago.
No, the speed bump has been around. It was introduced in Season 12. We are in Season 29. Remember, it replaced the dreaded begging for money tasks, which seems like ancient history now.
No after the "lose the money"penalty, the next consequence was being "marked for elimination". Unless you came in first to the pitstop in the next leg, you had a 30 minute penalty you had to wait out before checking in.
The wait it out penalty must have been for a hot second, because the speed bump came in during Season 12. I do remember the "wait it out" penalty, but it rarely came into play, because the last team in w/that penalty already had time to make up. Since, they were last to check in and last to check out.

I think its always been two. One that they both have to do and one that only one member of the team does.

Yeah, but you had to be the first to get the Fast Forward. If you're lagging behind, good luck.
By the way, AM was renewed for another year.
Horray!

Thanks for the update, Poetist. AR was very much on the bubble for renewal.

I know but I don't know why? It won its time slot. It should have been a no-brainer.
