I couldn't agree more. The first half of first season are my favorites. We get some outstanding Jupiter 2 footage. Irwin Allen really knew his stuff when it came to model work. In The Derelict, we see a lovely sequence of J2 entering the giant ship's landing bay. Then, in Island In The Sky, we see one of the most real looking crash scenes I've ever seen even to this day. Not a single string or wire visible at all as J2 comes past various rock formations and lands on her belly. Except for the very last ep of season 1, the last third of the season begins to foreshadow some of the silliness that would eventually pervade the series. The best ep of the series, IMHO, is The Keeper; the only two parter in the series.
