Dark Shadows and All in the Family both had Dennis Patrick in them ( see my postings on both shows).

Now as to the title. It is well known that the portrait of Barn did not originally hang near the entrance to Collinwood. It just started when they were getting ready to introduce him. However, you could imagine that the picture was hanging somewhere in the great house. As to it being a great coincidence that it was suddenly hung near the door right before Barn first showed up it could be that Liz liked to regularly rotate between the picture hanging near the door sometimes and something else or nothing hanging there instead. I did know someone who did this in their own home ( with other painting of course).

Now as to Archie's chair. It was somehow established like in a flashback that his chair was not in the parlor way back when even though he was supposed to own from a time before the show started. However, it is possible the chair originally had another house location. My guess was it was either in the hall upstairs. Or maybe the Bunker's bedroom. If Archie could not sleep he may have sat in the chair and read a newspaper.

PS If anybody can mention to me what specific episode of pre-Barn DS where they showed the spot where his picture was later hanging I would appreciate it. I would like to see what hung there earlier if anything did. I just know Barn didn't. I could not find the scene by looking for it. Too many eps.

I think the AITF family ep that showed no parlor chair was the episode where they flashbacked and showed Gloria first meeting Mike.
