Overview

This six-part comedy-thriller series from the BBC starred Arthur Lowe as an eccentric artist-turned-detective called Phineas Drake. Beautiful blonde Tina Kent is discovered murdered in the drawing-room of Brigadier Austin Binghop (Richard Hurndall) Inspector Hook (Dudley Foster) is convinced that Binghop is the culprit and takes him into custody. But Mr Drake thinks otherwise and begins investigating – placing himself in considerable personal jeopardy – with the trail leading him to the house of Chelsea socialite Mrs MacPherson (Sheila Keith).
