Urged by his parents to either apply to college or find a job, JT gets a part-time position as an assistant salesman in a used-car lot. Not only does he actually enjoy his new job, but it turns out that he's incredibly good at selling cars. He thanks Carol for getting him off his keister and making him get a job. He dreams of one day owning the car lot and gets in a commercial for the place.

Dana is assigned to write an essay for her psychology class. After Mark and Karen's refusals, she has to hire Cody as a subject for her study. She writes that Cody is a nutcase, but her teacher claims that she is close-minded. She gets a ""D"" on the paper and has to do a makeup assignment on one person's dreams for a week, and although Cody volunteers, she refuses.

Carol najde pod JTho postelí nevyplněné přihlášky na vysokou a k jejímu zděšení je JT navíc vyhodí s tím, že se chce flákat. Frank mu ovšem dá ultimátum - buď půjde na školu, nebo do práce. JT se rozhodne pro práci a myje auta v bazaru. Carol ani Frank z toho nejsou nadšeni, Frank nicméně doufá, že JTho práce omrzí. Když ale JT dostane provizi za prodej vozu a hrozí, že jeho příkladu budou následovat i ostatní děti, rozhodne se Carol jednat. Dana má napsat psychologickou studii o členovi rodiny a Cody je opravdu sousto.

JT décide d'arrêter les études pour se consacrer exclusivement à la vente de voitures. Dana utilise Cody comme cobaye pour un sujet de classe.

Dana braucht einen Freiwilligen für ihre Psychologie-Arbeit. Alle winken ab, nur Cody stellt sich als Versuchskaninchen zur Verfügung. Dana ist von ihrem Probanden alles andere als angetan, lässt sich aber doch breit schlagen. Für sie ist Cody ein Spinner und seine Antworten hält sie für Quatsch. Anders als ihr Psychologie-Lehrer, der von Codys unverkrampften und kreativen Antworten entzückt ist. Auch J.T. zeigt überraschende Talente. Er hat keine Lust mehr, aufs College zu gehen und jobbt lieber in „Leo’s Autowelt“. Beim Verkauf erweist er sich als echtes Naturtalent und ist glücklich, dass er seine neue Aufgabe so gut beherrscht. Auch Frank platzt fast vor stolz, als sogar im Fernsehen von J.T.’s Arbeit berichtet wird.

Rodičia povedia JTmu, nech vyplní prihlášku na vysokú, alebo začne chodiť do práce, a preto si JT nájde prácu v miestnom autosalóne, ktorá mu začne naozaj ísť. Dana spovedá Codyho kvôli seminárnej práci.
