Ardala Returns

When I watched this series back in the 70s/80s, I remember Ardala being in more episodes. Wishful-thinking-memories. But according to IMDB, Pamela Hensley only appeared in four episodes, and two of them were two-parters. So in reality, maybe 6?

I also remember her as a main character in the series, so it's crazy to realize she was only in 4 storylines!
I wonder if there's a reason for that. Surely audiences loved her, and the rivalry between Ardala & Wilma was delicious because the 2 were such opposites. Truly a historic Ginger-or-Maryann situation that had adolescent boys arguing to no end.
My only guess is maybe the creators of Buck Rogers wanted to imitate the revolving door strategy of Fantasy Island and Love Boat, each week surprising the audience with new faces rather than digging deep into any established character drama. Who knows.
