Despite tensions with Nureddin Zengi's circle, Saladin solidified control over key cities like Damascus, Aleppo, and Cairo, laying the groundwork for the Ayyubid State. After defeating King Guy at Hattin, Saladin fulfilled his lifelong dream by reclaiming Jerusalem peacefully, earning admiration as the city's unchallenged conqueror.
