I was about 11 or 12 when The Box of Delights was first shown on BBC TV in the weeks leading up to Christmas. What an enchanting series, faithfully adapting a lovely book, with a fine cast of British character actors. I watched it several times - it was something of a BBC perennial, for a while, until the early '80s TV special effects and lighting inevitably dated it. I would love to watch it again after so long and see how it holds up.
