I have no idea what I just watched. Did this episode explain that "BOB" was born out of the bomb testing in New Mexico in the '40s? What the heck else did this episode shed light on .... so confused

Oh and Laura was "created" from the Giant to combat the creation of "BOB"? I mean why was she in that gold globe ?

That's what I'm taking it from it.
EDIT
That being said, I really don't want an explanation about where Bob, The Lodges and everything came from.

After a good night's sleep I realized the "Giant" or whoever he is ... is located in the past ... as were all scenes in this ep in B&W. So can we assume the opening scene of this entire return series with Coop and "Giant" is in the past too? 1950's? 60's?

I think the atomic tests ripped open the portal and let loose Bob. The Giant appears to be God's caretaker and we see Laura's soul (in its pre-born status) sent to Earth.
There's a lot of religious content in this episode. True, you could argue it's a load of mumbo-jumbo twaddle
but to Lynch's credit he's trying to give the show some greater religious/philosophical meaning.

It's allegorical storytelling. Lynch uses weird imagery/objects to convey his meaning. The trick is to try to work out what each image/object means/represents. Good luck trying to work it out! Us mere mortals will struggle.
