Discuss Twin Peaks

Okay, so I watched ep 4 - just out of perverse curiosity. I hated ep 3 but I had to see what ep 4 was like.

All the scenes with Cooper as Dougie - didn't feel like Twin Peaks. This happy family stuff - what the heck was that all about!

The original show was a classic police investigation - who killed Laura Palmer? This 'return' is about nothing much. I dunno, two Coopers and some murder that is being dragged out for 18 episodes. The 'Shaggy' guy - the teacher in jail - is he still in the show? Seems to have disappeared from the storyline!

But the worst thing about the show -** it seems stuff full of filler material**. I thought the return of the show would see Cooper (the good one) return to Twin Peaks and solve some new crime or perhaps be killed. I suggested the premise of season three should/could have been

WHO KILLED AGENT COOPER?

I think that could have worked as a plot. Cooper is found dead in Twin Peaks in episode 1 and then we have several episodes of flashbacks revealing what happened to both Cooper(s)(the good and bad) and then it builds up to the big reveal... who killed Agent Cooper! This would be real continuity - who killed Laura Palmer - and now who killed Agent Cooper?

I think this would have had major potential. Instead we have Cooper acting like a drugged out Charlie Chaplin and other stuff that feels little like the original show.

This is the worst tv disappointment ever for me. I loved Twin Peaks - and sure, the second season wasn't quite as memorable but it was still good - but this new season is crap. Feels like a parody of the show. It's as if Frost and Lynch thought "let's take the piss out of the show!"

Meh.

I think episode 1 should have started with a body found in Twin Peaks. The body is revealed to be Dale Cooper (the good one, not the evil one). And then you got a great mystery to solve....
