Well that was different to what I expected!
The box in the New York room - very weird and spooky. Perhaps it's a portal into the dream state world in which Bob and other killers come from?
Agent Cooper's disappearance explained - no-one's seen him for a quarter of a century! Yeah, I can buy into that. People do disappear in real life so anything is possible in Twin Peaks.
The murder scene in the apartment - wow, that was gruesome. I struggled to look at the tv!
The teacher suspect is played by the guy that is the (new) voice of Shaggy in the Scooby Doo cartoons. I don't know if David Lynch knew that when the guy was cast but his casting was unintentionally funny. His acting was good although I kept thinking "Shaggy is a murder suspect?" LOL
I get the feeling this new season is going to be even more disturbing, more graphic and weirder than previous seasons.
Perhaps the story will reveal more about the portal between this world and the darker dream dimension which I guess is the heart of Twin Peak and explains why Laura Palmer's father was possessed by Bob (and now resides in Cooper's mind).
Overall a rather good opening episode. Certainly spooky with a great air of mystery.
David Lynch is one crazy guy but I think he's touched with genius so who knows, Twin Peaks: The Return may turn out to be a classic. But even if it's just 'good' that will do fine. I'm happy to revisit the Twin Peaks universe despite my initial reservations.
It's amazing to see the show back on air. I never thought it would happen.
