Not a good start.
What I liked: The new workroom. The diversity of the contestants. The new female judge.
What is I didn't like:
Bland host. Bland mentor. The male judge, trying way too hard to be funny.
The fashion: A good, not great runway. I think I'd have gone with the other top look for the win.
Now to the worst of the worst: O M G they didn't send that blue bodysuit home. I get the feeling that it was because she is nice and nobody likes the WASP princess. Another decision like that and I may not continue.

It's in the discussion of the current Survivor season on this board. I'm surprised you didn't get a notification.

Nope. So, you're saying it was a notification like the ones on the left of the screen?

A couple of additional thoughts on the Elton John challenge.
Poetist mentioned that better looks come from two day challenges. We agree. We don't recall if past male challenges were one or two days. We see two problems with male challenges. First, many of the designers have little or no experience designing for and fitting men. It would seem that it would be simple since men tend to fewer curves than women. But that very lack of curves can make it difficult to make something other than jeans and a t-shirt look good. Second, men's wear is often more meticulous than women's. Again, that seems counter-intuitive. But for the 20th and 21st centuries the amount of under-structure and tailoring can be daunting.
We did have another issue. They seemed to go to great lengths to not tell us the name of the shop they took the designers for glitz and trims. The name didn't appear on screen and even when they did the "Thank you ...." The name seemed to be garbled. Maybe its our extreme old age )
, so maybe one of you guys heard it.

The cause challenge was very interesting. We did like Sebastien's flesh colored dress. I'm not sure that Christian's (from the link provided) was better.
Hester's was fun. High fashion? Probably not, but I think it addressed her cause very well.
While we could see Garo's inspiration, we wouldn't call it a bee costume. If he had run that across a masquerade (cosplay) stage, and said it was a bee costume, it would likely get marked down for only vaguely resembling the bee. We think it might have been more successful if it were a bit longer and we don't think the raised shoulder straps added anything to the look. (All of that means we agree Garo probably belonged on the bottom this time. )

But a lot of the female models are built like a coathanger, meaning very straight and boyish.
It looked like Hai Trim and Feathers.

I always enjoy the real woman challenges. I thought this week's was one of the better ones.
Tough call with the top two. While Sebastian was certainly deserving of a top placement, I would have gone with Garo. I think he transformed his client more than Sebastian did. Let's face it, Sebaztian had the easiest client.
Bishme's dress was fine. Nothing memorable. Hester's was not her and I didn't think really did the most she could have to flatter her client.
Either of the bottom two could have been eliminated. I agree with Nina, it was time for Jamal to go. At least Tessa's client liked her dress. I didn't understand the chiffon draped belt at all. I don't think either of these two dresses will ever be worn.
Did I hear correctly that there is one more elimination before the final? So a final 4? I think Hester or Bishme is going to win. Sebastian doesn't have much range. Tessa hasn't impressed much since early season. The judges admire Garo's technical skills but perhaps not his vision.

See full comment in another post. Cliffnotes on Garo's dress: I thought the poodle dress was very juvenile. I can't see most women thinking that was a dream FASHION dress.
He did and Jamal had the toughest client to design. I guess when they go to school, they only teach design but not construction.
What is up w/Hester and these dang strings? She could have easily designed a nice Hester dress for the client, since hot pink seems to be in Hester's wheelhouse.
There was one stage of making Tessa's dress that it actually looked good, and that was when the client first saw the dress. Then, it all turned left. I didn't get the stupid belt either.
My dvdr cut off at a certain point.
I'm not really impressed with anyone, so I guess these designers are saving their best for fashion week.

Musings. . .
Hmm... I went on Brandon Maxwell's page. It's funny how this designer, who tells everyone beauty comes in all sizes, has nothing but 5"10 size 2 models in his show.

Truth is the top three were all bad. Sebastian's was very well made. But a putrid color and a very silly design. Worked for his pageant girl disney princess teamster, but no one else. That was the challenge but the dress was ugly. Both Garo and Bishme's dresses looked bridal boutique. Not good. NONE of the top three garments would win a challenge on any other season of PR.

I'll bet that is also true of Christian. I remember during his season that he said he wanted "fierce, skinny girls." In another scene he told his models not to eat anything before the runway show.

Tessa was completely dismissive of her client in every way.. The client wears a black pants set as a uniform every day and what does Tessa want to put her in? A black pantsuit. Forget the fact that the client wanted pink and the challenge was to create a fancy DRESS..

It seems he's moved passed that, when he designed a dress for Leslie Jones, who isn't really that big. I'll say she's a size 10 at best.

Here's what he says later in life:

Hmmm... I just realized that Christian picked out Sebastian's fabric, a bit too much steering the designers, imo, but I guess he didn't want to see a trainwreck on his watch.
He tried to do it with Bishme with questioning the color of blue, but Bishme shooed him away.
