Not a good start.
What I liked: The new workroom. The diversity of the contestants. The new female judge.
What is I didn't like:
Bland host. Bland mentor. The male judge, trying way too hard to be funny.
The fashion: A good, not great runway. I think I'd have gone with the other top look for the win.
Now to the worst of the worst: O M G they didn't send that blue bodysuit home. I get the feeling that it was because she is nice and nobody likes the WASP princess. Another decision like that and I may not continue.

Come to think of it. It's not really a one-day challenge when so much is also competing for your time. They have to sketch, shop, sew, model fit, style, and do hair/makeup.
It was odd and to think no one said let's switch it up. I know one team said that they had to work harder for their work to stand out. Well, nothing really stood out. Somethings were better but outstanding? Hmm....

Tonight was my favorite episode since gender neutral. First I have say that Karly's look was phenomenal. I want it for my niece's wedding this fall.
I didn't love Jamal's look. I agree with Christian that Elton John's costumes all had tailoring, which this lacked. I would have put Sebastian as the third top look.
The top two, oh my god. Bishme's was so cool, for a young Elton. My jaw is still on the floor over Garo's. There are no words. What was up with Sonya? It was his look, why would did she expect credit?
I think the bottom three looks all had problems but none were awful. I agree with Leila's being sent home, mainly because of the construction issues.
The worst was Hester. Much as I love Koveed personally, I would not have picked him for my partner. She can't blame him for that atrocity though. The concept, fabric choice and execution were all kinds of no bueno.

I agree. It seems as if more time and a helper paid off dividends.
It was really cute.
I didn't like Jamal's either, but I could see that he was going conceptual. Sebastian's look wasn't over the top enough for me.
Well, she did suggest the codpiece and the lightning/flames from the shoes. He could have thrown her a bone. Those were very strong pieces of the look, imo.
I agree. I guess Tessa better get to sewing up those hems. My goodness, they are not that hard or time-consuming.
It was so ugly. She really doesn't value having immunity. In that, she should take the opportunity to make something extraordinary/risky -- not cheesy, like her last garments on an immunity. What we've seen from her were glued on pasties and a rooster. I'm glad they showed Tessa smirking when they told Hester she should be glad she had immunity.

We agree this was one of the best runways this season. And its astounding, because male challenges are almost always disasters. We admit, we were waiting for one of the judges to complain that a look was too "costumey." Thankfully, that didn't happen.
We thought the correct choices were made. The top looks were all good. Both Garo's and Bishme's were especially nice. I think Garo might have given Sonya more credit if she hadn't tried to take over the work. She constantly seemed to contradicting his choices.
Tessa's was very nice, but just wasn't Elton John. When I mentioned to my brother that she had done it all in tans, he said "Tan!?" We don't know why she seems to dislike hemming. It really doesn't take long. The other two bottom looks really didn't say Elton to us, even if they had been better executed.
Hester's was a mess, which disappointed us. We think her base concept was good. (that is, a rooster. That seemed very Elton) However, the actual design concept she produced from the base idea was bad from the start and entirely too literal. Even that might have been salvaged, but she just failed utterly to appreciate what she was doing. It looked like a bad Mardi Gras costume. (for a member of the public. Not one of the crewes).
Overall, though, we would like to see more male challenges, if they achieve results like this one.

When she said rooster, I thought she was going to do a peacock -- not literally -- but have this grad headpiece like Garo's.
I think the most important reason they achieved a great runway was that they allowed the designers more than a day to work. Plus, they gave them a helper, so that was like three days time.

I liked this week's challenge a lot. I really liked almost all the T shirts. Anyone know where they can be purchased?
Hard to pick a winner this week because of the dual nature of the challenge. Some made a great garment but had an inspiration that was not clear or too general (Sebastian, Jamal) while others had a very clear story but not as successful garment (Garo, Tessa). Bishme had the best of both I suppose, but I liked Jamal's dress better. The use of the puffer fabric for a ballgown was so unexpected.
I really liked Hester's story and garment. Gay As F, just put it right out there. Her tulle worked pretty well too. Sebastian stayed in his wheelhouse and produced a very nice dress, but his story was very unspecific. LOVED his T shirt. Tessa's was the most impactful emotionally, but the garment left me rather cold.
I'm not sure what happened to Venny. Maybe the design was just too ambitious? Also, the story seemed rather convoluted. Simple and direct has more impact. It was a tough call between the bottom two. Garo was right, he made a bee costume. His story was clear though, and he has done better work. Venny has been all over the place.

I agree. I love when Jamal makes the puffer clothing.
Yeah, however, it wasn't high fashion. Didn't fit the challenge, imo.
Never a fan of Venny. He tries to do urban, but he's stuck in that ghetto gear mess. I can't really explain it.

Re: Tess' confession
Hmmm... the judge telling Tessa they need to hear more of her story felt so damn produced, and that's probably because it was. The designer spoke with the producer. The producer spoke with the judges. The executive producer told the judges that someone had better drag that secret out of her.

I didn't like Sebastian's tissue paper flesh dress. I think Christian did a better job.

You've just reminded me how good Christian was in his season. That dress is divine. Too bad he isn't half as good a mentor.

He did make that amazing black dress for one of the plus size models, streetwear challenge I think. Other than that, pretty forgettable.

Yes, he did. I just agree with the judges in that his garments are just too over produced and not in a good way.

Did you see the comment on the Survivor page asking us not to give spoilers on a show that aired about 6 years ago? 🤯🤯🤯
I didn't trust myself to respond.
