I think her love story with Mike hit home as Susan was turned out of revenge by the vampires for her boyfriend taking part in killing them and age was only trying to save Mark. It was very sweet moments with them together that make this feel like a real community and give the characters some depth. I wonder if Mike had been able to search the house sooner could she be saved?
