Sorting is not a big issue here, I can probably force Kodi to sort the list by "Release Date" or something like that.
The issue is with Episodes numbering they are still show up as S00E36.
Calling everyone wrong and TMDb right and demand every other app or service to change is not a solution, even Trakt is marking the show as "Watched" for me because this episode is part of the "specials" or "Season 0", How Trakt spouse to fix that?
TMDb can fix all this headache with a simple change to this Episode number. literally will take you less than a minute to do it.
Anyway is there a way in TMDb API for these "Episode Groups" to have its own Season/Episodes Numbers? I probably can contact some of Kodi Dev to look on it if that possible.
the shortest path is not necessarily the right one, if everyone would adapt to tmdb there would be much more choice for end users, the group APIs exists, and at first glance they also seem simple to implement, trakt just like kodi/plex/emby/jellyfin can adapt, we users should put pressure on the help centers/feedbacks so that the changes happen

Are you sure that the predefined sorting options are sufficient? What if there were more ways to sort, e.g. the ones from the episode groups? Simply expand further sorting options by fetching the series and sorting by various arcs or discs instead of by air date or year. No extra fumbling in nfo files or renaming the episodes or anything. This is the future and only this can reach the programmers of the apps.
And so, when do we consider the final episodes as real episodes in season 4? Because groups of episodes are not the solution, try not to change topics.

No change are needed. Unnumbered episodes are only add into season 0, that are the rules.

the point is to somehow get the order correct, so, that's exactly what the groups are for
Not trying to bring back any arguing, but it looks like there are episodes 88-90 on the official site now. But these also don't seem to be referring to the final chapters episodes anymore cause they are not only renamed, but also there's one more than there would be if the specials were re-numbered. What's going on here? Does this call for any moving?

It see to be split versions on the specials - 3 episodes (88-90) for special 1, 4 episodes (91-94) for special 2. The both specials are here.
If Google Translate is accurate, this seems to be a situation similar to the episodic release of Demon Slayer Mugen Train, and they will release episodic versions of the specials on streaming platforms, if this is the case, should these releases be added to the final season?

The use of episode groups in Kodi is explained here : https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:TMDb_TV_Shows#Episode_Orders
The episodes should be numbered as per the content of the episode group.

Is this the first (and only) series that's gonna have its finals as specials? What a joke.

I think no, i.e. Rama 1/2 finished it as OVAs.
