...National Wine Day!
National Wine Day is an annual feast celebrated on May 25th of every year.
I think it's so great that Penny has her on holiday! The best part is (and I quote): "you need not excuse yourself to have a glass of wine or perhaps some glasses of wine."
Enjoy!

DISCLAIMER 1: Before anyone asks, no this is not from personal experience. I'm sharing with you what has been shared with me. So, it could just be another “urban legend”.
The gist is that swishing perfume in your mouth will kill the smell of alcohol. It will also make a Breathalyzer go bonkers.
DISCLAIMER 2: The person who shared this information with me is no longer allowed to drive in:

Maryland

District of Columbia

Peanuts or peanut butter will also interfere with a breathalyzer.

A breathalyzer doesn't detect smell. It estimates the amount of ethanol present in your breath (alveolar air).
Perfumes can contain up to 90% of ethanol (denatured) or isopropyl alcohol, so your 'nice' smelling breath can still set off a breathalyzer.

Never said Breathalyzer detected smell…never thought it either.
My thinking:
1) The “smell part” has to do with the swish masking the odor of the booze.
2)The Breathalyzer part (which is why I used the word “Bonkers”) has to do with making it operate irrationally (Can a machine operate irrationally?). That is, because of the residual perfume left in the mouth after the “swish”, the Breathalyzer gives a reading that’s so out of range that a person would have to be, say, dead for it to be true.
Anyway…
Checked out a few spots...some said the perfume swishes have no affect…some said they do. I guess, not for nothing they call these tales “Urban Legends”.

Today is: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Every third Monday of January, we celebrate 'Martin Luther King Jr. Day' holiday to honor the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
A man who "woke" a nation.
“The time is always right to do what is right.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

And yet there is still no day celebrating Frederick Douglas.

Actually, it was created/proposed to commemorate his birthday, which this year does fall on the day of his birth (January 15). But you know the feds, they have to get their 3-day holiday!
Here is an interesting article/interview with the author (Jonathan Eig) of 'King: A Life'.

Heck, here in Washington State it's been in the mid to high 50s for a couple of weeks (it even got into the 60s a couple of times).
