I will agree with you on this as well the more I think about it. Sheldon tried to lie about the broken Spock transporter thingy and he just couldn't do it.
That might be a good thread topic though. Did Sheldon ever lie (and not recant it)?

As well as the various times he tried to go along with a deception and wound up blowing the whole thing even after trying to come up with meticulous plans.

Sheldon will bend the truth for his own benefit
When it was proven that Kripke was in fact smarter than Sheldon. And Kripke thought it was because Sheldon was...intimate with Amy. Sheldon allowed him to believe it. Clearly allowing false "facts" to be believed.

Aha! I knew someone would remember some Sheldonian deception!

So THAT'S why Kripke won the Nobel!
Oh wait, that didn't happen.
I believe it was even explained in that "Kripke is smarter" episode that Sheldon just hadn't been working in that area for as long as Kripke had been.

Did Sheldon have to be smarter than Kripke to win the Nobel? Don't forget he did have to share it with Amy. Mathematically that would make him half as smart.

Knixon, now you're just tryin' to distract from the fact that Tim found an instance of Sheldon being deceptive. Don't matter which one of them was really smarter.

Since Kripke didn't win at all, there's no way to evaluate that equation.

As the showrunner, Steve Holland, of "Young Sheldon" has said: 'Sheldon Cooper indeed is a pathological liar', so you should not believe anything he said in TBBT about his family or childhood unless it is confirmed in the prequel.

Yikes! I'm not so sure I'm too crazy about that. I mean, so we've pointed out that sometimes he can go along with a bit of deception... but a pathological liar? Especially about his father's infidelities, heavy drinking and death as confirmed by his mother? Hmm...
Sounds like something convenient for the showrunner to say so they can do whatever they want in this new series.

Maybe not a pathological liar, but he seems incapable of seeing a world in which he is wrong...about anything.

Sheldon does seem to be a bit embarrassed about his down home spun roots. Everyone in Texas was dumb as a box of rocks according to his Star Wars fanfiction when he asks Spock to take him away. And let's not forget they he doesn't know the difference between a snowy tree cricket and a common field cricket although he will insist that he does until proven wrong. Or when Priya found a loophole in the roommate agreement

Well I think I'm going to have to leave it at this, in part because it's close to my bedtime. I consider the Big Bang Theory to be canon and I don't like a new show coming along and calling one of the original characters a pathological liar so that they can rewrite history. Poopyheads.
I shall now stomp my feet, refuse to ever watch Young Sheldon unless I get extremely bored which is entirely possible, and go to sleep.
My husband doesn't call me Sheldonette for nothing.

Sounds like ample reason for Sheldon to make up stories where his childhood was BETTER than it really was, not WORSE.
