Today is Earth Day.
This year's theme is "Restore Our Earth". Not to get preachy, but it isn’t just trees that need 'hugging'…it’s the entire planet.
"The Earth is what we all have in common.” - Wendell Berry

Happy belated Earth Day to you as well, FKA. I'm thinking Sheldon would have viewed the day as rather Hippie Dippy, though I think it's a nice idea.
And happy early Mars Day to you, as well.

From your keyboard to His ears! Science fiction one day…science fact the next.
All this Space exploration isn’t about adventure and “boldly going where no person has gone before". Nope! It’s about finding a new home because this one is already “circling the drain”.
Wake up and smell the Caffe Latte Eathers; the next “Ark” will be a spacecraft…the next home

At an hour and change...…way over my YooToob “clip-watching” time limit.
Although; I would be interested in getting your opinion on the subject matter at hand…as opposed to your opinion on the opinions of others.

'51' Years: And just because every prediction hasn't come about (yet) does not mean that what has happened (so far) isn’t dire enough as is.

I guess you only looked at the top part of the photo thing, not the bottom part. Where it shows that not only have the dire predictions not come true (and they were assigned dates/years, so "hasn't come about yet" is irrelevant) but actually the OPPOSITES have happened.
It's easy to predict something will happen, eventually. Especially if "eventually" is beyond the time frame during which the predictor is likely to still be alive, and hence possible to be "held accountable." But if you say - in many cases, repeatedly - stuff like "THE OCEANS WILL BE DEAD IN TEN YEARS!" and then they're NOT, that's not a case of "not YET." That's just WRONG.

Just for starters, one reason more people are dying from hunger is because of the economic decline from overreaction to corona.

One thing that can help with not taking Greta Thunberg seriously is realizing that, at home, her name is actually pronounced toon-berry.

As bad as things are, can only imagine how much worse they could be. Thank goodness for the many advocates who have been “banging the drums” all these years to raise awareness of the disastrous consequences of environmental apathy. Who knows, were it not for such activism, maybe all of the predictions (and then some) would have happened.

The single biggest problem with a lot of that, is that they blame "prosperity" and even freedom, for environmental problems, when the reality is that prosperity is what makes environmentalism possible. The worst polluters in the world have been, and still are, poor countries and places lacking freedom.

Earth Day 2022 Theme: “Invest In Our Planet.”
For a few years now I've been leaning toward the notion that we've reached the environmental “tipping point”. But, the worldwide response in tackling the Covid-19 Pandemic makes me think that just maybe....
"The future's not set. There's no fate but what we make for ourselves."
WHO KNEW? "Professional tree planters can plant a tree in under ten seconds while a normal person could do it in under a minute with the right tools and minimal training." (gotreequotes)
Wish they had not used the word "normal" since I've planted many, many trees; BUT never under a minute. (Although, I am self-taught.
