You gotta wonder sometimes how much these things are planned in advance. It seems like not much, perhaps not at all. Yet how frequently they work out for the best, can be amazing. Such as naming Mr Burns' assistant "Smithers" on The Simpsons. I expect they chose "Smithers" because it sounds "subservient" etc, but the big plus was that for the Treehouse Of Horror episodes (for Halloween) they could turn him into a snake-creature named - of course - "Slithers." Did they plan that in advance? I doubt it. But it sure turned out well!
