A lot of people don't know that the actor who played Wilson in Castaway is the same actor from the volleyball scene in Top Gun.
And the rock that was in the park in TBBT's kite flying scene (this is how I didn't have to mark this as OT) is the same rock in the action scene of Neverending Story VI: Who Gives a Crap.
Don't be jealous I know these things. I went to a special school.

No. That was the twin. The same actor was originally cast in both, but was involved in a pretty bad “stuff block” incident a few days before filming started, and the twin had to take over. People often get them mixed up.
As for “NeverEnding Story….” I can’t speak on that; my understanding is that it was a private screening for a very special few.
ON ANOTHER NOTE: Cooking sherry will kick-up-a-fuss if you keep it around long enough.

I never knew you knew so much about the volleyball acting world! What do you know about celebrity frisbees?
It sounds like you have a sherry story you need to tell. Please sherr(y) it with us!
And on the theme of inanimate objects with dual roles, I wonder what other props have been used in multiple shows?

When it comes to "the volleyball acting world" and "celebrity Frisbees"; only know what I read in the funny papers.
As for fussy cooking sherry; think I already imparted enough.
Your question about props-use-in-multiple shows made me curious. Did a search; a few popped up, 100%
worthy.

There are places around keeping track of such things. One that I remember is that some kind of dressy shawl thing used in an episode of original Star Trek, was also seen on... Gilligan's Island, I think it was.

I preferred his performance in Castaway. It was much more layered and nuanced. In Top Gun, I heard he was a diva and refused to spin on Val Kilmer's finger, and clashed with the director and Cruise. Interesting fact: From a behind-the-scenes featurette, I learned the volleyball actually couldn't swim. When Wilson was floating away, it was actually a stunt double.

Cooking Sherry sounds like the old Twilight Zone episode To Serve Man.

😂😂😂 Dark Sithlord, this had me giggling so hard Mr. Lemons asked me what was going on. I always like it when you come around.
I guess by the time he played Wilson in Castaway he had matured. Sometimes those young'uns can be a bit overinflated.

Hey Lemons, I don't want to offend but could you correct your title? It should be 'inanimate'. I was going to just ignore it but every time I read the new replies it's still there? 😎

HahA! I always aim to please. Always happy to bring a smile when they might be in short supply during these crazy times. Love this topic. It's so funny, that I immediately knew I had to reply. Thanks for the kind comment about me coming around. That's so sweet of you to say. Take care!
Oh, the next time I run into someone with an "overinflated" ego, I'll call him a "Wilson" and see what their expression is. Maybe I should take a pic and post it, HahA! Oh and I apologize in advance if anyone reading this is named WIlson.
