50 Million = the estimated number of Americans traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Despite CDC advisories (and a profusion of medical, scientific, and physical evidence), Americans have opted to "hit-the-road". Given the daily surge in Covid-19 cases, you have to ask: What part of "Postponing travel and staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others this year,"….do people not understand?
Why...do you think...these travelers are traveling despite dire Covid-19 warnings?
1) Want what they want and just don’t care?
2)Don’t think it’s going to happen to them?
3)Suffering from Burnout?
4)Still think “all this Covid-19 stuff” is a lot of bull?
5)Think they have a compelling reason?
6) Other(s)

It depends on who you're talking about. Different reasons for different people. But for any who think it won't happen to them, it can and it just might now that COVID is rampant. My family followed all the rules. I've been "Sheldonian" about it. But my son recently got COVID anyway. It has been terrifying and hell. And what's worse, there is no way to get some people to believe they should be careful or to care at all. A vaccine is really our only hope. We can't hang our hats on getting people to care.

People are morons & incredibly selfish. This story kind of says it all about those people.

Sorry to hear.
Just makes you angry that with all that’s going on, people can still be so cavalier, or in complete denial, about something that in one way or another affects us all.
Hope everything works out OK.

I think this is the first piece I've read about people being in denial until the very end. Usually, it's someone flat-on-their-back telling the world what a fool they were for not believing that this thing is real. Followed by an apology to those they may have infected, and a plea for everyone to heed the warnings, take precautions, and obey the guidelines.
Considering how long this thing has been going on and the toll it has taken; you wouldn’t think that people would still need that kind of up-close-and-personal brush with it in order to learn.

Why not? People who've seen Cuba and Russia and Venezuela etc for decades, and the millions/billions who've died in those places, still voted for Biden because they still think socialism/communism works.

You do realize that just because societies have some socialist aspects it does not mean that they are communist, right? Comparing the US to Cuba or Russia is ridiculous. And you also realize that we already have socialist aspects to our society- public works funded by taxes- and that it has been that way for eons through Democrat and Republicans presidencies, and we haven't become Communist yet? To say that Biden voters are pushing for socialism and communism is a lazy and tired insult.

Also, what the hell does this have to do with the people who s*** all over the efforts to curtail COVID?

'They' think that being forced to wear a mask is akin to our country falling into communism. 🙄

Which is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Do they feel that way about wearing seat belts, too?

Just for starters, nobody is insisting - not yet, anyway - that people wear seatbelts walking down the street alone, or walking in the park alone, or sitting in their own home...

Hey FKA, I got a notification that you had left a reply at around 10:30 am (pacific) but when I looked here, no post? Did you delete it?

Deleted.
My wording kept gnawing at me, so decided to delete-and-rethink.
(FYI: If no one has quoted me, then, I feel it’s OK to delete or edit; if someone has, then I leave it go.)

Thanks for clearing that up (I'm glad I'm not losing my mind). It has happened a few times in the last couple of weeks & I was wondering if it was a glitch in/on the site?
