They are beautiful and come in a variety of patterns. Sheldon had a lovely striped one on his sofa that I always admired. They can add pizzaz and a personal touch to any living room. But when they're there...you can't sit on your furniture! My mother has a plethora of decorative pillows on her sofa, but I have to set them on the floor to be able to sit. I would love to have some stylish decorative pillows, too, but I don't want them to end up all over the floor!
Is there some secret I'm missing to sofa-sitting on a sofa covered in pillows???

I was actually watching that commercial when I started this thread, but the struggle is real.

Would like to offer something useful.
But...
We are not pillow-people. We are potato chip-people. All we have to do is vacuum.
Anyway...
Good Luck!

๐ Thanks FKA! As always, there was some degree of silliness in this post, though it was a legitimate question. I'm just wondering how people who line their sofas and chairs with cute little pillows actually sit down. If I didn't take them off the sofa I'd have to sit at the edge of the seat and that would not be comfy!

Cats love pillows.

So the answer to my query appears to be this: Decorative pillows are not needed unless you are a cat needing to hide before pouncing or you plan to smack someone in the face with it.
Or if you're a great big dog.

Well they are called decorative pillows, which means they're just for decoration, not for actual use; or, "throw" pillows, which means you throw them off the sofa to make room to sit.

Is that really why they're called throw pillows?

Or unless you want your Uncle Frank, who is always carelessly sloshing around a can of brew, to sit somewhere other than.
As for a pouncing cat; have one that has just moved in and made him/herself at home on my porch. So, far haven't been able to lay-hands on that little trespasser; but a pillow smackdown may not be a bad way to get it to โrecognizeโ and move on.

That's what I thought. They're called throw pillows because you throw them casually ONTO the furniture. Which goes back to my question of why bother to buy pillows if you just have to throw them on the floor.
