As it is almost Halloween, it is time to let the skeletons out of our closets.
There was that less-than-stellar episode of TBBT where Sheldon (or was it Leonard?) had a box full of stuff in the living room closet including an unreturned movie and he felt guilty for it. He literally had kept a skeleton in his closet in the closet. (Or something like that. Doesn't matter. I'm really just using this TBBT reference which is a bit of a stretch to lead into this great new thread topic which I verified on "Was this discussed on the board before.com" and found it never has been so buckle up.)
Here is my skeleton: When I was a child (maybe around 10?) I considered stealing a Hello Kitty product from the lower level of the Belk department store. It was either a pencil or a pencil sharpener and I wanted it a great deal. I went so far as to put it in either my pocket or purse (the details are fuzzy), but then I put it back. I just couldn't do it. That was my brush with crime.
Now what have you done? C'mon. I know you made at least one prank call. Or rolled a house. Or something naughty. Your turn.

Well, I did say I was a regular little criminal. But we got caught with the candy when we got home & had to go back to the store to return it.

Yeah, I'm waiting for a few more to step forward. I'll tell on myself again. When I was four we had this really cool balcony in our kindergarten classroom. It was full of toys and pretend kitchen equipment and we got to go up there during our play time. I refused to come down on a regular basis and my teacher called my mother crying.

I'm not sure what you're looking for. In either 4th or 5th grade, I think, those little CO2 cylinders were a popular toy. You could get a little spring-loaded thing that would "open" them to be sort of a mini-rocket. As a science project, I had put some kind of balsa-wood "glider" thing on a wire that ran from the back of the classroom to the front, and fastened a CO2 cylinder to it. I guess nobody realized how strong they really were, because when it was 'triggered' the glider zipped up the wire and put a very noticeable CO2-cylinder-size "dent" in the front of the classroom. When I visited that school years later, the dent was still there.
But that was part of a school project, so maybe doesn't count as "bad."
How about this? When I was about 10, I would sometimes play strip poker and other "games" with a neighbor girl who was 11 or 12 then, I suppose. At her house, because the parents both worked during the day, so after school there were like 2 or 3 hours before they got home. And if they worked on a weekend, it was pretty much all day. A few times, her older sister - maybe 13 or 14 or 15, I suppose - joined in.
These days, I suppose that would make me "the victim" and the two girls might have to register as "sex offenders" for the rest of their lives. How ridiculous.
A while back, I heard from my mom that the first girl had contacted her on Facebook, wondering if she was the same person who had all those boys etc. And mom gave her my email, but I never heard from her. So I don't know what that was about. And I don't know if mom ever knew what we did, at her house and behind our barn etc. Maybe so. Mom has always been and still is, rather dim in a lot of ways. But it doesn't take a lot of smarts to figure out something like that. There was never a fuss made, though. So I can't be sure either way.

The big difference between me & her, I was actually very smart. I also was never brought home by the police.

What an odd old phrase "skeletons in the closet" is.

I was such a good (even great) kid growing up that there aren't any skeletons in my closet. I've been racking my brains for the past two days trying to come up with something I must have done wrong, sometime...got nothing!
ON ANOTHER NOTE: I've certainly enjoyed reading the comments in this Thread. Guess I really must have missed out.

Well, I don't think what I described was actually "wrong." Really just normal. But it would have been... unpopular?... if discovered at the time...
