At the US outbreak of COVID-19 I had one R95 mask leftover from a “Quikrete” project. Since safety/medical supplies had been “swooped”, I decided to try my hand at making my own masks. If you can sew, I guess you have it made (ha-ha); but for the rest of us a little innovative thinking…along with a few miscues…is the name of the game.

T-shirts, coffee filters, copy paper, paper clips, paper towels, tape, glue, scarves, aluminum foil, cloth shopping bags…have all been repurposed into face protectors.

Now, I can make short-work of one of those babies. Not medical quality (after all nothing is sterilized); but good enough for street use. And, as the PSAs keeping telling us: any-protection-is-better-than-no-protection.

Anyway...

(1) Has anyone else added “Master Mask Maker” to their skill-set since the COVID-19 pandemic?

OR

(2) Develop any new (or dusted of any old), useful COVID-19 related hacks?

I have not had to make any masks, but my parents found one from a painting project my dad did a while back. And my husband has a co-worker who has made quite a few out of cloth. I'm thankful that we have had those masks because my husband is still having to go to work.

Shel-Bots for everyone.

thumbsup_tone1 to having both.

Funny, how something we barely give a thought to one second...becomes critical the next.

Well, I feel slightly vindicated (people have said in the past that it will not help?) because I have been wearing a mask when I go out in public for a long time. I buy them at the dollar store (10 for $1.00) when I stock up on aspirin & antihistamines.

Don't remember that scene at all; but thanks. Poor Leonard!

Strange; right. A minute ago, unless it was Halloween, someone wearing a mask in public was eyes at...now it's someone who is not wearing a mask in public who gets that sort of treatment (from a distance, of course).
