No one loves a rags-to-riches story like Americans…and hers is a heartwarming one.
"This spoken-word song was the result of a bit of trickery by the album's producer, Jack White (of the White Stripes). He was playing a melody for Lynn to generate song ideas when she recalled a story from her childhood. Little did she know, White was recording her the whole time." (Songfacts)
While all these celebrants seem passionate about their art, I think the clear winner is the person in the "black top"...stage left. What she lacks in rhythm, coordination, and precision...she makes up for in enthusiasm.
Received my alumni magazine today. So sad. One of my former professors died.
The article describes him as precocious…an apt description. He taught History as if he were at every great event AND ALWAYS “in the room where it happened”. It was more like being regaled with a story of some great adventure, than sitting through a lecture. (I felt like the kid from "Secondhand Lions" during his class.) Time flew.
The man, with his animated style of continuously rushing around the room, arms flailing; talking a mile-a-minute; debating and berating the famous and infamous alike, was a wonder to behold...and a gem. He was one of my favorites...and judging by how fast his classes "sold out"...also a favorite of many, many others.

Didn't catch the movie ("Michael"), but caught this at the tail end of the credits.
Sounds like some good times and some good advice...so thought I’d share. Perfect for a home-alone-dance-like-nobody-is-watching-pick-me-up.

Today, June 29th is, Hug Holiday!
“Studies show that hugging releases oxytocin, known as the “cuddle hormone,” which can help to strengthen social bonds.”
Although due to Covid-19 (and #MeToo, of course) the celebration part HAS to be curtailed; but, the feel good part comes with no strings attached.

This is from the TV show, "The Umbrella Academy". If you watch the show you know it's a feel-good-make-you
moment.
If you don't watch the show it's a:
Even so, since it pays homage, you don't have to be a fan of the show to enjoy the clip.

Today, October 28th, is National Chocolate Day.
It is an occasion I'm sure we can all get behind.
