讨论 The Big Bang Theory

Borrowed the idea for this Thread from someone (don't thinking who) on the old Board. It's been a while; so, maybe it's time to do it again. Life is full of little annoyances; so go ahead...get it off your chest!

I find many You-Tubes that need to prove God does not exist. And there are many more angry people in the comments if I mention Christianity. Many of them are very insulting and generally reference "the flying spaghetti monster". (Funny, they never seem to criticize Allah.) Now I personally don't believe in the Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot, but I know people who do. I don't bother them about their beliefs, and we get along fine.

Not surprised...

When it comes to beliefs, seems it’s not enough for people to just have their own convictions. No, they must try-to-prove-to-everyone else that their way is the only right way.

Even so, when it comes to social media, it’s impossible to “separate the wheat from the chaff”. That is, people who are genuinely out there to argue about something they truly believe in--as opposed to those who are out there “trolling” for attention. These attention seekers will latch onto ANY discussion and say just about anything to fan-the-flames so they can sit back and 'watch things burn'.

---Before the old board closed down a poster owned up to posting under two usernames. Said that they posted opposing POVs on Threads…and then would engage in heated back-and-forth, one-upmanship arguments for days. Go Figure!?

Well...Trolls need to have their fun.

For some reason, I'm reminded of an old episode of The Andy Griffith Show. Opie tells his father and Barney that he met a man in the woods. The man could walk around in the treetops, had 10 hands and could blow smoke out of his ear. The upshot was that the man was a telephone lineman he had heel spikes on his boots and special tools he called his extra hands. (The smoke was a dad magic trick.) Not quite sure where I'm going with this, except to say I'm not so fast at dismissing other people's beliefs as I used to be.

I don't know. My pet doesn't have any peeves.

LEMONS!!! How in the world are you? What have you been up to? You owe us a story, the more improbable the better.

But what Opie believed, was not actually true.

Someone could believe that the Earth is flat, and even seeing it from space they could say it LOOKS flat. But their belief would still be false.

Tim!! 💛 I'm good, but I missed you. I've been working hard and not having enough fun! I have written you a story and will put it in a new thread. Check the board in a few minutes.

As for actual pet peeves, how about:

People who use "of" instead of "have." "Could of," "should of," etc.

And people who use "intensive purposes" rather than "intents and purposes."

grin Thanks.

Borrowed this from one of the comments (attributed to a politician, but I'm not saying which one):

"If you, the public, don't start pitching in and doing your part; and if we, in Washington, don't start pitching in and doing our part; pretty soon, none of us will have a part to pitch in ."

I hope you've had a chance to read it and liked it. I do of course expect a story from you at some point, too.

My point was that the facts were there. It was how people interpreted those facts that matter. As a Biblical example, the Bible says "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven." Sounds silly right? But "the eye of the needle" was a small door next to a town gate. For a camel to get through a camel would have to get rid of all its baggage and go through on its knees. Makes more sense right?
