How are you guys coping with the Coronavirus outbreak. Seems like every few years one of these things pops up out of nowhere.
Now every little sneeze, cough, headache, etc. you or yours have cause you to worry. Even a trip to the market is an in-and-out venture…no leisurely browsing and/or chit-chatting in the aisles with a fellow shopper.
There is a lot of misinformation out there. And, of course, snake oil salesmen and shysters trying to make a quick buck. Then there are the folks who love to hear the sound of their own voice coming out of the woodwork to prey on everyone's fears.
As for me, we've had a longstanding work-at-home policy; so for now no traumatic changes are required. Must say that I’m adhering to the recommendation to avoid crowds as much as possible. I don't have to ride the bus or the train so I've lucked out in that regard.
Anyway...
Stay vigilant.
Stay safe.

It’s Enough To Make A Stone Weep…
Been watching videos/reading comments about some of the "gouging" and “hoarding" that's going on. You'd expect the usual worms to come out of the woodwork to feed. But, the stories about the ordinary, everyday people who have also joined the anything-to-make-a-buck frenzy just overwhelmed me.
…well that’s my COVID-19 rant for the day.

I have a small pharmacy in my neighborhood that really pissed me off. I went in on Friday to buy a money order & a stamp, noticed on my way out that there were 2 different types (cup & flat) of face masks 'repackaged' in resealable glad bags. He buys them in bulk & was reselling them for $9.99 for 2 of the cup type. I told the clerk just what I thought of what they were doing & when I got home I turned them into the AG of my state who had created a special office for reporting & ending price gouging in the state during the crisis. Here's hoping that they are fined big time.

Great!
It seems that when these scoundrels are reported, except in extreme cases, they are just issued a "cease and desist" order. But, at least, an order showing up should be enough to bring their pocket-picking enterprise to a screeching halt. (Also, let’s hope that it shows up again somewhere during the license renewal process!)

He has been in trouble before, for trading drugs for sex a few years back, he was suspended for a while. Hopefully, they'll see that when they check him out?

If this goes on much longer; afraid our Governor and Mayor’s opposing POVs may come to this?.

I'm starting to come across the next phase:
People are darned tired of this epidemic and they're not going to take it any more.
I've heard generally sensible talk show personalities tells us to engage in "civil disobedience" Yeah that'll show that virus.
I was in a supermarket check out line and some woman was loudly complaining about how stupid the six foot rule is.
Gives me more reason to stay home.

I guess the longer this Pandemic continues the more people there will be who suffer a “break with reality”.

Store employees are complaining that some customers are not coming into stores to shop/buy essentials during the Coronavirus Pandemic; but because they are bored… AND to meet, mingle and have fun.

The Governor is granting us a conditional parole starting May 15th.
If we "keep our nose clean" shelter-in-place may be a thing of the past.
Wish us luck!

I believe it was P.T. Barnum who said: "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."
Or more to the point:
Even as President Donald Trump urges getting people back to work and reopening the economy, an Associated Press analysis shows thousands of people are getting sick from COVID-19 on the job. Recent figures show a surge of infections in meatpacking and poultry-processing plants. There's been a spike of new cases among construction workers in Austin, Texas, where that sector recently returned to work. Even the White House has proven vulnerable, with positive coronavirus tests for one of Trump’s valets and for Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary. The developments underscore the high stakes for communities nationwide as they gradually loosen restrictions on business. The people who are getting sick right now are generally people who are working,” Dr. Mark Escott, a regional health official, told Austin’s city council. “That risk is going to increase the more people are working.”
